OK I Did It!
« on: March 07, 2006, 01:35:30 AM »
For all the RG faithful.  I did it today.  I pulled the plug on Visionary and ordered a Mercury and Saturn.  Vis. was always my past fav. but with their non-ability to fill orders I felt the need to move on.  I have used RG in the past sporadically but not to any extent.  I am always pulled towards the smaller companies.

After, reading BTM's reviews on both of the planet balls I thought what the heck they are certainly cheap enough and for most THS walls they'll do the job.

Then add to the fact, that last night at a well maintained center I received a nice deep gouge on My The One <over the fingers and not in my track but a newer ball>...that was enough to make my decision go for the planet balls.  No more $200+ balls on a THS.  Stupid me!

The Battle is ALOT of ball!!!!

Maybe an RS-X would fit in better.

bass--True enough as you know we don't see that much oil here in Cheeseland.  Thought about an RS-X or an SSSE to fit above the Saturn.  From what I hear from Steve Richter, RotoDave and others the Saturn is a lot more hook than many thought originally.  I doubt I leave it at 800 grit though.

Scott,
There is plenty of oil up in the Fox Valley compared to what the Madison area seems to have(i.e. at MAST tournaments).
Probably enough oil at State tournament also(at least for a game and a half).

Otherwise I end up going coast to coast with alot of the newer equipment.

Gotta love those above ground ball returns when your playing 4th arrow.

the saturn is quite a nice looking ball...but in RoTo LoCo's hands (matt wohler) lots of things look nice....but the saturn had a nice controllable look to it while covering a good amount of boards.

bass--True enough.  Bowl A Vard has gone very dry the last 10 weeks.  Madison has normally always been drier than anywhere in the area.

Scott,

As we have talked about, if you're getting both balls, leave the Saturn dull. Change it to 1000 or 1200 grit; just leave it dull.

I agree...I'll try it OOB and go from there.  Thinking I might try 1000 abralon as that will leave dullish and smooth.

Tuesday house has more oil across the lane.  Sheen type balls work well to control backend.

Wed. house <BAV> is dryish house wall....Saturn at dullish state maybe to much but we will see.  I am able to use The One <2000 abralon, strong stacked layout> at 15 at the arrows to 8-9 at break point.

Looking forward to trying them both.  Price is right.
