Madcap Core
« on: January 02, 2018, 08:37:28 AM »
I really want to try the Madcap core but can't decide which one as I'm certainly not getting all 3. Leaning towards the Trick and letting it be my first test with a long Pin-Pap and a high VAL to put it pin down for Sport shots.

OG and Danger seem to have a lot of overlap with the rest of my equipment but still intrigue me.

Maybe there will be a 4th iteration?...

That would be interesting. Any insight into whether or not the Madcap will get a 4th use? I know Schlem already dropped the info that eTrax will get a solid and pearl version.

I would imagine so, it's basically Roto's version of the C3 in the IQs, I'd expect it to be used in a lot more stuff.

Do you guys think they may put a weaker cover on it? I guess the best comparison from the C3 side of things are the overseas Sword series.

The DDT is my go to ball on challenge and sport shots.  I shot 300 on the USBC White #2 pattern a few weeks back.  I believe Luke R. used the comparison "the DDT is an updated version of the IQ Tour Solid but on steroids".  I tend to agree.  It's super smooth like the IQ but it cuts through more oil.  I am a big fan.

I also have the DDD.  I only have 5-ish or so games on it but from what I see it's an excellent mid-performance ball well suited to medium THS with fairly clean back ends.  For me it is not a hook monster or skid flip.  It's a nice even rolling ball that does not overreact to the dry but gets good length before transitioning.  It's too early to say how long it will stay with me but it does fit a space in my bag that needed to be filled.  So far I like...

Being an HP3 line core, I wouldn't guess they go much weaker on the cover as HP2 has cores with more diff already and there has to be some separation. I like Luke's thoughts on an eTrax shell. I would like to see a single or dark colored R2S Solid cover on it :)

Anyone try surface on the DDD? Or polish on the DDT?

I took mine down to 3000 and added a weight hole 6" from the pin on the VAL. It increased the flare somewhat. The ball is still very controllable to me and is my medium piece when I am trying to keep my target in front of me.

I keep the DDT around the original box finish grit. The ball to me is just too good when I need control with more cover.
