Can those who have thrown both tell me what the differences between the two balls are?

Both relatively long. Mars handles a bit more oil and, for me, is a little more aggressive off of the dry. I find the Neptune to be a good step down from the Mars.

I think it is all about your surface and layout. My Mars and Neptune are both OOB condition and the Neptune is much stronger and more angular off the dry.

The Mars is weak compared to my Neptune

Both of mine are OOB surface and drilled identically, stacked. The reaction I see is the exact opposite of yours....strange.

My Neptune is my go to ball and is more angular at the break point than my Pluto and Mars.

Same layout, both OOB, you will find the Mars being a lot smoother than the Neptune, i have thrown both with very similar layouts, the Mars is more mid lane with a hard arc reaction off the dry, where the Neptune is longer and more angular off the dry, the Mars will handle a little more oil but both are very nice equipment, ill also say that the Mars will handle surface change better cause its a hybrid cover.

One of the best bowling balls that I have ever bought. I use it for a spare ball and for when the lanes are getting just a little dry. I am going to buy another one and put a different drilling on it and see what happens.

I think the mars could seem weaker with less backend because it does handle more oil and it probably burning up more than the neptune..
I can toss my neptune on burnt and it will just roll smooth and arcing all the way to the pocket.. but some oil in the heads and mids with clean backend and my neptune will cover more boards than almost any ball out there..
I slow the spead down and use the neptune on the shark.. all backend.
