Rogue Cell coverstock and oil absorption question
« on: March 07, 2010, 11:12:52 AM »
So i recently bought a Rogue cell and i am loving it with a 1000 abralon surface prep. My question pertains to how quickly the coverstock absorbs the lane oil. Am i imagining things or is the coverstock basically a sponge? At the oob 4000 abralon surface, and even adding polish to the surface, the ball has always come back with no oil on it. I know the lanes i bowl on are not dry becasue i also use a Storm Mighty Shift, and that coverstock seems to not absorb the oil as quickly, as it will usually come back with all the oil rings visible. Just wondering what i'm in for over a long period of use with this ball. Am i going to need the put it a revivor every so often to pull the oil out of the ball? Just looking for some input.

I have/had all of the Cells and all of them (well Pearl not so much obviously) are sponges.  I would clean mine after each set with clean ''n dull on my spinner and you should''ve seen the rags after doing so...

The Cell line is actually pretty good about absorbing oil. I have a Rogue with 150 games on it and 2 Cells with 250 each and they are both going strong. My Rogue is a common ball for me to use in league and we have a pretty heavy oil house and it always comes back with oil on it. I have to wash my microfiber about once a month because of all the oil it picks up. I'm not sure why this is happening to you but trust me, the Cells go for a long time. Some people think that they are losing that pop but every time I think that is happening with my Cells it just turns out that there isn't as much oil as I thought and it is burning up.

I will say though, Roto covers tend to pick up a lot of junk. I notice for all my Roto stuff, but especially the solid stuff after a game or two a brand new surface looks like its 4 years old. But just put a little cleaner on it and its back to new. Not sure why they do this but I think that is where bowl-a-lot is picking up all that junk on his rags.
