Layout for an Oracle?
« on: March 03, 2005, 06:46:11 AM »
I just got an Oracle that is 14.2, 2.68 TW and a 2 1/2 inch pin.  I am a high track player, 16 mph, low to medium revs, play mostly down the boards, sometimes swing 3-4 boards.  I thought about a 4x4 set up.  What are your thoughts on that or do you think a different layout would work better?

Sounds like good / normal specs.......

what conditions are you looking to conquer, and what type of "hook-shape" do you prefer ?

Jeff,

I would be using it on conditions that are normally medium to heavy oil of 30 -35 feet, not a lot of backend.  I would like for the ball to arc.  A lot of layouts I have tried hook right out of the oil and are hook/stop.  I get a quick move and then it stands up.  That is what I am trying to avoid.  Thanks

ok, well, the Oracle is very continuous so I dont' think you'll have this problem..however...can you describe the lay-outs you DON'T like, and....is this the Oracle, or Oracle Vision?

This for the Oracle but I also have a Vision coming.  The layouts that give me trouble have the pin under the ring finger and the CG kicked out.  1:30 with the pin above and right of the ring fingers and MB below the thumb work pretty well for me.  Since I made my first post, I talked to Roger at Rotogrip.  He suggested staying with the 1:30 with one and maybe a 5x4 with the other for a little different look.  What do you think?
