I drilled this ball Leverage with the CG stacked below. I wanted to see the difference between this ball and my Track Havoc drilled in the same manner. I left the surface in BOX.
Staying true to my theory that scores do not matter when trying new equipment, scores only matter during leagues and tournaments, I threw this ball after league was over for about 45 minutes----I had the scorers OFF.
LANE CONDITION: My house shot. 38ft buffed to 44ft, Heavy oil in the middles and it tapers going outside to the gutter. WOOD Lanes.
LINE: Usually when I am first trying a ball I try it all over the lane. I was able to play the same area with this ball as I could with my Havoc. They gave me 2 totally different reactions. I played straight down 7 board, with my wrist broken to see how it played in the light oil. I was able to move in and play 15-8. I was even able to get really deep with it and play from 5th arrow out to 10. Basically I oould play where ever I wanted to on the lane with the RUSH.
REACTION: When I release the RUSH I see it trying like hell to rev/roll early. HOWEVER, it goes very LONG, and reacts like MAD on the backends. Playing the deeper line (25-10), if I missed in a couple of boards it did not have the ability to turn the corner as hard as the Havoc. But when I hit my mark with it, I struck every time. The length is great, and the BACKEND is smooth YET very strong.
IMPACT: I was told by a fellow ballreviewer that the impact at the pins is what seems to set the RUSH apart from many other balls out today. I agree that it hits hard, but nothing like the Apocalypse, Animal or even Fear Factor. Its hit is very similiar to the Havoc. I threw alot of balls with the RUSH, trying to hit high, trying to hit bad. The ball would not do it. It hit good no matter what I did with my hand. It carried unbelieveable strikes. I would go through the nose, and it would trip a pin late every time so it would not leave a split. The pin action is what I see as the Rush's greatest quality.
READABILITY: The RUSH for me could be my "benchmark" ball. It easily reads the entire lane. It changes directions very smoothly. It responds amazingly to hand position and release changes. VERY good ball for me to start with. Most others could probably use this on everything but the heaviest of oil.
OVERALL: This ball rolls up sooner but not as violently as the Apocalypse. They make a good one-two punch for Roto Grip. Compared to the Havoc, it is not as strong as the Havoc throughout the lane, and it does not respond to dry as quick. This ball is a winner, and as mentioned by another user in a different RUSH thread, it is probably FAR TOO OVERLOOKED. I was thinking about this ball when I bought my Anomaly.....I should have gotten this first. Roto Grip is on the right path. I will have the new Retro.
