Official release date?

Has anybody had a chance to talk to anybody with inside information yet?

Lucky, it arrived today. I had a chance to throw it and will post a full report later this week. I will also add pictures that will be posted to our Facebook page Friday. As a teaser, it is very smooth and typical CELL motion. Was very easy to manipulate the shape on Kegel Beaten Path pattern.

I've had a lot of success with a RICO cell pearl. If I were to use this layout for the mutant do you think I'd get a good ball for a nice predictable heavy oil look?

Due to another committment that came up I'm not going to be able to post all I promised above (that's why I'm up at 3am, ugh) at least this week.

What I'll comment though on the video is notice how it's not jerky down lane at all, just a strong hard arc into the pocket. That is very similar to what I had in my Mutant too. Mine did not lane shine nearly as quickly as in the vidoe though. The 2000 surface is still pretty pure after a few games on it.

Maybe it''s me but the ball in the video definitely jerks on the backend (like someone kicks it left). It appears to go long and then snap (like a hockey stick shape).

I thought it looked more like a hook and set.
Almost like the ball is rolling out on that guy, like maybe he needed a little longer pin to pap. But definitely looked strong, depending on what kind of oil he was on. Covered a lot of boards, and that guy doesn't have the hand we see in all the other video's people make, so that says something for the balls strength as well. Will be fun to see what the BB.com guys can do with that ball with their revs, lol.

I have an opportunity to buy this ball right now, but I''m worried about overlap. I only just bought a VG 6 weeks ago and so far I''m not impressed. I have a cell pearl that I love (drilled RICO) that''s great for a ths and I''d love to see that kind of shape in heavy oil or longer patterns. I''ve found my vg is long and angular but doesn''t arc like the cp, and I often have carry issues with it. Do you think the mutant would do well drilled RICO for a different look?

I usually do a lot of research before buying a new ball, they are too expensive not to, but the newness of the release plus the offer I got doesn''t allow that this time.

Sir & Adrenaline: Keep in mind if he is getting the ball to the edge, this is something of a distance along the lines of Cheetah. That means he has 25 feet of backend and as strong as he had it drilled (4"?) it's going to be strong and then quit, even with a low rev rate.

I heard that is supposed to hook way more than virtual gravity. Here is wat the pro shop guy said, "it will make vg look like plastic" that may be a little over exaggeration though.

That is a bit of an exaggeration (With both at the same surface)...BUT this thing absolutely hooks a ton. I punched both of mine up and threw one tonight. Went with a 5.5 x 5.5 MB x 2.5 pin buffer...my initial impression is that even with the "weaker" layout i put on it, it still needed a ton of oil to get down the lane. The house im bowling at has a pretty big puddle in the middle and some friction right...once i started throwing the ball well i jumped in the puddle and just kept chasing my own breakdown in. I didnt have a virtual gravity with but the overall hook is most likely more, but the motion is much smoother. Continuious, but smoother. Just like the virtual gravity, this ball seems to have the ability to maintian energy and corner from deeper angles and get through the pins strong.

I went with a 5 x 3 x 4 layout on the other one, but didnt throw it yet. I need a big arcing/smooth rolling heavy oil ball and i think this will be it from what i saw out of the first one. This ball will be THE heavy oil ball of choice in the Storm/Roto Lineup in my opinion...Storm has pushed ball reaction to the next level with this one...cant wait to change surfaces and play around with these things
