I take back what I said about the Mutant Cell
« on: December 05, 2009, 02:54:15 PM »
Awhile back I gave the Mutant Cell a probably less than fair review after rolling it in a matchmaker and comparing it to a Virtual Energy.  After seeing what some other guys were doing with them I decided "what the hell" and picked one up and drilled it with a slightly modified 5x4x3.

In retrospect I gotta say that the one I rolled was simply drilled too strong for me as I am a higher track, higher revs bowler.  Rolling this one, I will now say that this ball is pretty tight.  Definitely the most angular ball that I have ever thrown.  It takes the corner really hard and picks up the heaviest roll I''ve seen in a ball yet.  Ball also lets you create lots of area when the shot opens up.  It has a really unique look to it that you won''t see anywhere else on the lanes at this point in time, makes really weird messengers, and has a funny crunch on flush pocket hits.

I haven''t yet found a condition around here that will really let it shine yet though.  First night with it, backends were way too dirty and she wouldn''t finish unless I got it way out, and tonight, I could barely keep it on the lane.  No matter how far out right I got the ball, it always came back though.

I''m still getting the feel for this added length from a 5" pin to pap.  Length is not a problem at 5 inches as at shouldn''t be, but this is the longest ball that I have yet.  I still might experiment and put a little polish on it, or maybe not.

Overall I think this ball is pretty tight, now.
