Cell to strong for THS?
« on: April 22, 2008, 01:33:45 AM »
OOB that is for a well matched med speed, med rev stroker? I find in my house the lanes stay a bit slicker longer in the summer and I'm considering adding this piece. I understand that it takes well to cover adjustments the issue for me sadly is my pro shop is a mob scene prior to league and I cant get out of work early to get there when its not. So more times then not I leave everything OOB. Yes I know i can buy a spinner... Thanks to any one with an opinion.

The Cell should fit the bill for you.  Unfortuneately, I think I am finding that for myself, my 2 Cells (4 x 4 and 5 x 3) are not very good tournament balls in regards to handling a lot of heavy oil but thats just me and my style.  I kill my THS will my Cell and its my first ball out of my bag and I can use it all night.  It is very forgiving.  I have taken mine down to 1000 grit, back to 2000, hot water bath, you name it and it takes everything you do to it in stride.  I find the best thing to keep it OOB is to use a 1000 grit abralon pad, slightly wet and add a drop of Clean and Dull and use the spinner and bingo, back to what it was when I took it off the drill press.  Plus, this cover does not track up very easily because it is so durable.  I have over 60 games on mine and its in great shape.  Should do the trick for you. Good luck.

Greetings!

The Cell is truly something else and with the coverstock being so easy to adjust, it allows you to compete quite well on many different conditions.  I drilled mine 5 X 3 with a 3 inch pin buffer and it is silly strong and much too strong for me on a THS but as a stroker I think that you will have quite a bit of success with it.  Go with a drilling to help the ball get down the lane a bit as this ball really wants to go early..

Hope this helps!

The cell is quite strong on a THS. My friend just recently purchased one and its quite a ball. It has a very hard arching motion and lots of times will go high if he lets up on the speed or gets it to the dry too quickly. He has a No mercy and its stronger then that ball too and his no mercy is a beast on the backend.

The cell is a great ball for the heavier stuff and should work really well on a fresh heavy house shot.

OOB it can be overly strong for most folks, however.. it is one of the few balls that you can take your hand out of it and it will still hit just as hard.

I love mine..

Worst case you buy the shift and leave it shiny
