« on: March 10, 2005, 05:07:01 PM »
Hey all, I thought that it might be cool to share the layouts of my Roto arsenal.... http://photos.yahoo.com/cobbinside

I have a Sonic pearl I gotta drill up and I plan on picking up the Vision.  Sorry the pics aren't that great....crappy webcam.  I posted some vids of the Retro Ressurection and the RS-1 if anyone wants to see, just do a search on me.

Lemme know what you guys think

Roto Dave,

No I don't flare over the thumb holes, it does come fairly close though, I have a low track, so its not a big issue.  As far as my pap, its 5 something, drilled this one with the pin in my track...read below for why.

Mark,

Goofy huh? lol I think your prolly reffering to the super sonic. well the negative one at least, before you knock it try it, maybe not to the extreme I have but the roll is unbelivable.  But I will detail the conditions I aim to cover with my pieces.  I don't have the exact specs, but if you want them I can get them

Oracle(800 grit, heavy oil) Punched this ball up to Roll off my hand, gives me a good midlane read but still a little ummph on the backends.  This ball is off the chain, don't really get to throw it but when the shot is heavy this is the one.

Retro Ressurection(box finish, mediums) This ball gives me the most continous and consistant arc to the pocket, this ball is great through the heads and makes a hard deliberate move to the pocket, I must say my go to ball.

RS-1(box finish, mediums) This ball sits below my Retro Ressurection, the way its puched up and its high diff, this ball gives me the most midlane I have ever seen on a pearl ball, this is great when the backends get real sloppy.

Super Sonic(box finish, light to med-light) I have the pin pretty high so I get great length and a strong arc, Its great on the 38' pattern. In my mind this is the strongest Sonic.

Super Sonic NEGATIVE(box finish, light to med-light) Ahh my conversation piece.  This ball was me experimenting with negative pin drills.  The ball reaction is CRAZY, This ball is great when there is excessive carry down.  It gets through the heads like no other and when the core finally flips over, WATCH out!!! Continous through the deack

Sonic Solid(box finish, light oil) This ball gives me good length and a bit of angle on the breakpoint, this allows me to open the lane a tad more when the shot is drier, without a ridicuolous amount of over reaction.

Hope this helps,

I've been posting vids Mark, I already have put one up of the Ressurection and the RS-1, more are on the way so keep an eye out, I'll show you what these "goofy" drills do.
