My Roto Grip Experience
« on: November 04, 2007, 12:11:23 AM »
I attended a Storm/Roto Grip Open House this weekend.  Demo balls were the Illusion and the Quest.  Both are great balls.  I brought my Odyssey along to be able to compare to the Quest.  Tyler Jensen was at the Open House and asked me how I liked the Odyssey.  I told him I liked the ball, but I wasn't getting the reaction that I wanted.  It is drilled pin in the ring finger, 4-1/4" from PAP and MB 4-3/4" from PAP.  Ball is not as angular as I expected.  Tyler asked if he could take it to the pro shop and make some changes.  I agreed and he came back and asked if he could put a weight hole in the ball.  Once again, I said no problem. Eureka!  He drilled a small weighthole (don't know the size), pitched away from the fingers.  The ball is much more angular on the back and much more continuous.  It is exactly what I wanted from the Odyssey.  By the way, I have the surface at 500 Abralon and Rough Buff.

I spoke with Tyler for about 10-15 minutes.  He's a great guy with a ton of knowledge.  If you have the opportunity to attend a Storm/Roto Open House, don't hesitate.  I just wanted to share the great experience I had this weekend.  This example just confirms my opinion that Roto Grip is the best.  Their customer service is second to none.  Thank you Tyler and thank you Roto Grip.

Love Roto Grip and everything about this company. Thanks for sharing your experience about the Open House. Hope someday to attend an Open House.

we had a roto grip/storm demo day at a local bowling center around here too. ive been looking for something between my blue vibe and cherry vibe...and also been looking for something to replace my pain. i found that the sd, t road solid and secret agent were all great oil balls and really did some moving on the lane. i still couldnt find anything between the vibes...overall i enjoyed the reaction of the neptune also. overall a very well ran demo day...soon we willbehaving columbia and ebonite stuff there too so i will be able to try out some other oil suckers and not so aggresive balls

directdrill if you had these issues with your Odyssey why didn't your pro shop do anything before TJ did anything?

Great outcome however.

i just bought a roto-grip pro cg quest.i haven't received it yet but i'm concerned that i may not get the reaction i am looking for due to the fact that it is a pro cg.are there any special drilling instructions you can give me.i would love the ball to be nice and angular but worry that the cg may not allow me the opportunity to acheive those results.any info would be greatly appreciated.

scotts33,

I had the Odyssey drilled up about 2 months ago, and hadn't really discussed it with my pro shop operator.  Probably should have mentioned something to him first.
