Mystic & Venus are closer than I thought

I picked up a Mystic a couple months ago and have been shooting great with it (probably paid for itself already). I seem to like the particle pearl and symmetrical core combination because I enjoyed the RS/P too. So when I went looking for a ball to replace my Silver Streak Pearl, I thought the Venus would do the trick but it seems way stronger than the specs led me to believe. It seems to only be a tad weaker than the Mystic and starts up almost as quickly. They are both drilled the same. Pin above and between the fingers with the CG under the ring, no X hole.

I'm looking for suggestions for the SSP replacement now. Looking for the length and nice move on the backend. Should I be looking at the Illusion or Neptune?

You need to take into account how much a THS blends ball reactions.  That can make you think that a ball is stronger than it really is.

The Mystic revs up pretty fast.  Wouldn't this one get down the lane better and make a smooth break?

The Venus is stupid strong, and it's all downlane. Easily comparable in strength to the Mystic. It's the most angular ball i've ever thrown.

Agreed, I have both and I rarely use my Venus. Just too much off friction yet not enough cover when you really have to move in. Unbelievable how strong this ball is.

Thanks for the feedback and concurrence that the Venus is stronger than BTM led me to believe. Since both balls were drilled identically, I thought I would see a difference in the length on the Venus, but maybe it's the strong backend that's not allowing me to see the reaction I was looking for.

I will take a look at the Neptune.

For those that have a Mystic or Venus, what ball in your arsenal is below them? Perferably one with a symmetrical core.

For a SSP replacement I would go with the illusion or if you can get your hands on it, a horizon pearl. The SSP was a strong skid/flip ball by nature and the Neptune is nowhere close to the reaction of the SSP in my opinion.

I am suprised that people are saying the venus is as strong as the mystic.  I have both and the venus is drilled really strong and it does give a hard flip on the backend, but it is nowhere near as strong as my mystic.  But then again, maybe they are comparing just pure boards covered on the backend and not by how much earlier the mystic is.  But even by doing that I can't see the comparison.

For my below my Venus I have the neptune and a rush.  The Neptune will hook a lot if the backends are fresh so beware, the rush is drilled with a 5 1/2 inch pin, so its a smooth predictable roll on the backend for me at least, I don't have a lot of hand.

Although I don't own a Neptune, I have the prior version with the core before it was inverted, the Mercury.  The Mercury was not anywhere near reaction of my old SSP.  The Horizon was my choice for replacement of the SSP, and I haven't gotten an Illusion yet, but I'd suspect that would work very well also.
