Roto Grip Horizon
« on: April 11, 2006, 02:29:53 AM »
The newest addition to Roto Grip's mid priced line is the Horizon. Using the new  symmetrical Helius core, this ball has a low rg (2.48) high differential (.052).

I drilled mine in a 45 degree layout, pin above my ring finger, 5" from my PAP. A 7/8" weight hole drilled 2 1/2" deep, was placed inside the PAP at 4 1/2" from my grip center.

To test the ball I took the Horizon out to a fresh, medium oiled, 39' house shot. I found the ball to be sensitive off the break point if I hit up on the ball ever so slightly it would jump off the break. As long as I came out of the ball clean, the roll was predicable and the hit very strong.

I next used it in a 9 game marathon tournament on a modified 39' house shot. The ball played excellent as the little extra volume of oil kept the ball from jumping off the break if I didn't get it clean off my hand.

Lastly, I used it on a 38' sport condition. I could play the Horizon straight outside of 10 or in swinging the ball through 13 at arrows to 4 at the break. The roll and carry were excellent. As the shot broke down, I just followed the oil in, with no loss of hit or recovery at the break.

If you liked the Black Silver Streak, you should like the Horizon. The new core gives this ball alot more hit than the Black Silver Streak, with similar control.

I tell you the balls just keep getting better each and every release that comes out at roto grip.  I have one of these great balls and pound for pound this ball is the best mid priced ball i have thrown in a long time,  This ball is the shinit.  In the three outings with this ball 800,756,751.  This ball is A   MAZING.  Gets through head clean reads the mids early and makes a strong continuous move through the deck and hits like no other except the epic battle of course.   Buy this ball,  You will not be disappointed.

I must agree with the assessment that the new Horizon is a beast getting through the heads and making the turn.  In my opinion it seems to roll through the deck even stronger than my Epic Battle.  After an initial night of play with my Horizon it seems to be 3-4 boards stronger than my Silver Streak SE in the back while clearing the heads just as well.  Long and strong are two words that deffinetly fit this ball.  I put my new cam to good use and put my entire arsenal in my profile so if anyone would like to give this puppy a look it's there, and well worth it.  A hot looking ball that really stands out on the lanes.  I saw three others last night and despite being 5-6 pairs away it was clear what ball was being thrown.  Another fantastic release all around from Roto Grip.

Anyone of you guys that has the Horizon also throw the
RS-X???  Compare the 2 for me.  Website shows that the
Horizon is a little longer, but still as strong on the b
backend as the RS-X.  True????
