Need some advice to replace a jolt solid.
« on: March 30, 2009, 11:27:13 AM »
Hi everyone, I have a storm jolt and it cracked so it is no longer usable. My pap is 5 1/4 over and 1/2 inch up. This ball has a 1 inch pin. It is layed out with a 5 x 4 1/2 pin under ring and cg slightly out just a pinch, no extra hole. I have around medium speed, and around medium revs, can vary axis tilt and rotation. I really love the reaction this ball gives me, it roles in the middle part of the lane then kind of snaps on the back end depending on the axis rotation I put on it.

So, I was wondering what my options are as far as replacing and get another ball that is close to this one. I have had a few people tell me a pluto and a mars, but I already have a hot rod and the Mars would be too close to my hot rod. I personally was thinking a saturn and a street rod solid, but some other suggestions would be appreciated, thanks

Although the Grand Illusion is a great ball, it will probably be too strong compared to the Jolt.  The Jolt I believe has the old Accutread cover which is several generations old.

I'm assuming you mean the Jolt solid and the best replacement is probably a Pluto.  The Pluto is still pretty strong OOB so you would have to polish it.

What about a Saturn with a 1 inch pin? Do you think that would work?

I have an original storm hot rod and it probably would be too close to the hot rod.

As far as I can remember from when the jolt solid was still current, it's almost identical to the street rod solid.

The Saturn will probably be to strong oob to fill that slot.  The Pluto has the same coverstock as the Saturn, but it has a weaker weightblock, which should give you more of the control as the jolt would.  The street rod from storm is an option, but I think that its too strong as well.  It has the reactor solid shell and a rg of 2.55 with a differential of .038 (15lbs).  The pluto by comparison is 2.61 and .018 respectively.

Try a Thunderstruck Solid.  Yeah, its a couple years old but they are still floating all over the internet.  I've had mine for just over a year and that ball isn't coming out of my bag until my spare ball hooks more.

Thanks everyone for all your replies, however, I think I am going to sit on this for awhile as money is tight for me at the moment.
