I picked this baby up last week after being threatened by Achappy that if I didn't buy one he would beat me up.  Well, Achappy is a big guy so I bought one . LOL At any rate, I bought this ball for a house that I am going to bowl in this summer with strong and crisp backends.  Strong backends have always been my problem area.  

I punched the ball up 4x4, no WH.  And OH MY!!! Now granted I can't cover as many boards as Achappy, but I was highly surprised at the recovery of this ball.  There were shots where I know I missed outside of my breakpoint and the ball made me look GREAT!!! LOL.  It gets down lane with ease, this is one ball you won't have to worry about revving "too early", mine gives it all to me on the backend and finishes as hard as an Epic Core.  The ball is a pure monster!! The Cover is just so strong.

IMHO, this is one of the greatest values you can get in the bolwing ball industry and its a must have for every bowler.  High REVs to no revs, its a great ball.  Go get one and I guarantee you won't be dissappointed.

J/K.  This is one impressive release.  Everytime I go to drill one, we end up selling it to a customer and they end up loving it.  

That's ok guys, I have a Neptune Pro-Pin on the way.  How do you like the idea of a 5" pin high drill with a "Rico1" hole.  Mmmmmmm....

IMO, the Mercury was pretty erratic at the breakpoint if the lanes were too wet-dry.  If the pattern was shorter, the Mercury wanted to arc out of the end of the pattern.  If there was a substancial amount of oil up front with cleaner backends or the pattern was breaking down then the Mercury was a bit sharp in the backend.  It kinda made it over under in transition.  When we were selling these, we layed most people's out with a 2" pin to PAP which made it more predictable in drier situations and to take some the the "over/under" out of it.

The Naptune is alot cleaner and predictable through the lane but has a more consistant, stronger motion on the backend.  It's not angular, but a strong arc.

I tend to agree witrh DP3.  I have thrown the Mercury and the Neptune.  The Mercury is a good bit more erratic than the Neptune.  When the Mercury is on, it is phenominal but that look could go away easily depending upon transition.

The Neptune is a much more predictable reacting piece.  The performance advantage of the Neptune is that it seems to ignore the early part of the lane.  It easily gets down the lane and makes a predictable/strong/heavy rolling.  The Neptune hooks and hits like a mid to high price ball.

I drilled my first one 4x4 hole on the midline. 300 the second game out of the box.  Two weeks later I shot an 815.

I laid out a Neptune for a player with a very muscled swing and in the first five weeks of use he shot 298-299-300-800.  

In our chain-heavy market with wet - dry being the dominant pattern this ball is a must have.

A gentleman watching me throw the ball asked if the retail on the ball was $190. That is the kind of look you get with the Neptune.

Thanks for the info guys, that tells me what I wanted to know.  Sounds like the Neptune might be a better match for the conditions I've been seeing than my Mercury.
