Nomad Pearl vs. Reign
« on: October 02, 2009, 03:48:52 AM »
Has anyone thrown these two or seen them thrown side by side? According to BTM they seem to be very similar and I am having a hard time deciding which one to get. The numbers are all very similar with the Reign being slightly longer(I am guessing due to the slightly higher rg and lower diff) but BTM also mentions how the Reign has a slight midlane read which makes me think it might be a little smoother than the Nomad. Anyone have any experience with these two?

Nope, just the opposite.  More flare potential means earlier loss of energy and smoother.  The Reign is all skid-snap.

Nomad Pearl will have a touch more midlane read when at the same surface as a Reign. The Reign is the new skid/flip, i havent seen too much midlane with any Reigns

That is interesting, I have seen 2 guys in my local house throw reigns and they both love them.  They are both down and in players though (I like to play the middle and swing it out more) but both of those guys said that the reign reads the midlane better than any Storm pearl they have thrown.  Neither of them get a skid snap reaction, it is all arc.

Complete, absolute, total opposite for me, my dad, and everyone else I've ever seen throw the Reign.  All backend.  It's very predictable and rolls off the spot very consistently, but it's all backend.  This is why I love it so much whenever I need to move inside and give away the headpin -- it creates a lot of entry angle and retains energy very well.
