Hello, I just recently purchased a lightly used Cell. It has a 4.5" pin and I am not sure on the top weight just yet but I am going to get the ball plugged and re-drilled soon as it arrives.

I am a low-med rev player and usually throw around 15-16 mph. I play a more direct line to the pocket usually no deeper than second arrow.

What I am looking for more backend reaction as I tend to have a little trouble on oily conditions. I know that I can adjust the cover if needed but I would like to have an idea of layout to use. The pro shop I go to will be able to give me a layout based on my style of play but I figured it would be nice to have a second opinion.

You are going to want to get the pin up and at least 5 inches away from you PAP I would say. That is pretty general but the Cell tends to pick up very early on a down and in shot so it is going to need a fairly long delay for you to get any sort of back end.

Thanks Locke. I have a 'rogue cell' at box condition and the pin above the ring finger and I noticed that on oily conditions it struggles to move. I think a cover adjustment (2000 abralon) will give me the backend movement i am looking for on the rogue.

I figured on the 'cell' since it is at 2000 already I would try a different layout but go more on the aggressive side since I am not a rev dominant player.

According to what you're saying, I would probably put the pin right by the ring and/or a little up. I don't think this is the best lay out for you, but considering the ball has a 4.5" pin, you don't have many options.

The layout that you're looking for would be pin below the bridge. Pin below the bridge would get the ball to start rolling early, but keeping the distance to the PAP at a reasonable amount to keep the back end reaction. Make sure that the mass bias stays close to the thumb too.

If the ball is going to need a balance hole, make sure that you're driller doesn't drill it too close to the pin. 4-5" should be fine. Since you have a long pin, most likely the balance hole will be low, which helps you out.

from my experience a more aggresive drill on the cell will not give you more backend.. it will make the ball roll up earlier and smoother...
and pretty much eliminate the backend and recovery..

but yes.. as said about the mb.. make sure you keep the mb close to the thumb.. anything less than 50 degrees the ball will be super early..

Hey Edgar, I took your advise on the layout with the cell that I bought. I left the pin above and to the right of the ring finger and it is working out pretty well.

I just bought a used rogue cell that is drilled with the pin down under the ring finger. I am not sure if I should plug and move locations or keep it where it is. I have been bowling for a year so I am still trying to come to grasp all these variables.

Im looking for the ball to start rolling early so I think I will keep this layout..? Couldn't hurt to keep it at this location since most of my equipment is drilled using the 'all around bowler' layout.
