rs-p
« on: April 27, 2007, 03:32:19 PM »
I have my rs-p driled for heavier oil in oob condition . I don't know the drilling I have though. what current ball has replaced the rs-p ? also looking for a true heavy oiler.
I am a high rev tweener with med-high speed: usually play 17 to 4 on a oily house shot. looking for a ball to play 20-25 to 7.
I like the odyssey  but not sure on pin and drilling.
    any help is appreciated.
also I noticed the rs-p doesn't liked to be cleaned. when I do it kind of acts dead. anyone else notice this?                                                         .

The Mystic is the particle pearl in the mid-priced line, so it's pretty much the replacement for the RS-P.  According to the website, the Mystic comes 2000-grit polished.  If you're looking for something to handle heavier oil, you could take it down to 800-grit dull or lower.  That'll handle plenty of oil.

It looks like the new Epic Quest is a dull solid particle for oil.  There's the popular Epic Battle as the usual oiler.  It looks like the Quest is replacing the Battle (both being solid particles), though I have no idea when the Quest is coming out.

thanks for the info. I don't like messing with the surface. just a little quirk I got. I've been reading about other dull particle balls not lasting long. is this true? I think I'll try my hands on the odyssey.

I clean my rs-p often and it doesn't act dead.  Most cleaners leave a film of oil emulsifier on the ball which must be washed off.  I wonder if you are seeing the ball skate because of this film?

no dead may not be the right word, it just doesn't seem to rev. no matter how much hand I put in it. the ball doesn't seem to rev like it should, when oil gets back into the ball it revs just fine. yes I make sure to get the film off with ball cleaner.

thanx for the info.  by the way buddiesprosrshop.com has rs-p at bargain/closeout section for about $60. think I might pick one up and drill it for med oil and maybe polish it.

Sorry man,  Hope you throw 16# because I picked up the last 15# one that Buddies had last week and just drilled it.  The RS-P is one of my favorite Rotos since I started throwing them 2 years ago.  I have the whole RS line and now the entire Horizon line and love them all. Good luck with RotoDave's suggestion.  He knows his stuff when it comes to RG equipment.

it seems to me that most of the Roto covers (for me) seem to like getting dirtied up a bit before they start reacting consistantly. I my opinion the strongest most durable covers covers on the market today. I found that if I only clean every 10-20 games they react better, but I towel them after each shot. I resurfaced my RSP a couple weeks ago(150+games) and it is just now comming back to life. If you can still get your hands on 1 (I'd buy 2) just for safe keeping, My favorite ball all time. Still have 2 in the closet.
