I can't see how the Wrecker is stronger than the rising.

Same cover(hybrid), and same core Neutron.  Doesn't mean it isn't a great ball because I understand that the Rising is a great ball.

Mine is looking at me asking for a drill.

I also understand the comments above by Roto Mike that the Shatter can turn the corner better than the Darkstar or be tamed to be better for fresh with a little bit of tweaking to reduce it's inside capabilities.

Presumably the new cover is a bit more aggressive?  I dunno - I guess I'm just justifying.  Isn't that the deal with the Marvel to the IQ?

I stick with my original statement.  The success of the Frantic has moved the bar a bit with the mid-level entry stuff.  I think the appearance is driving some of these moves.

As far as the Dark Star replacement is concerned you'll have to work with the Shatter, Shout, and Scream to get the closest you are going to find.  From what I've seen I actually think the Shout is the closest - obviously a polished solid reacts differently than a pearl but the overall coverage is similar.

The Rising Star is definitely a great ball, hands down.  I threw one for a period of time and had a lot of success throwing it on shorter patterns where I could open up the lane a bit more.

I would love to know what symmetrical core is going to go in the Disturbed.  I picked up an Outlaw recently and the cover/core combo so far is really good with the medium and some medium-heavy patterns I see. 

I get my outlaw tomorrow!

So far, I really like what I see with my Outlaw after drilling this past weekend.  I had it drilled based off a 5x3x4  layout with the pin underneath the ring finger and an x-hole at P3.  Since the house I bowl at has a 43 ft pattern that has super clean backends and the place I sometimes sub at has a lot of wet/dry, this gives me a good control ball to work with and blend the lane out.  The other thing this does is give me a ball with heavy roll in the back compared to my 505T which is more continuous. 

One thing I can tell you is that the Outlaw hits really damn hard in the back, that's for sure.  It carries really well too.  If you ever threw anything with the Rotary Core, it's very similar to that overall.  I'll write a review after getting some more games under my belt.

Sweet glad u like it, I hope mine is good as well!  I'm getting mine for synthetics with super clean/ wet dry back ends....that sometimes are too jumpy...I got in hopes of smoothing everything out.....and for nights when my vivid is just way too much. I use a vivid, and step down to a area check and sometimes its still too much ball...so this should be the answer....hopefully I don't have to get a manic or shooting star...btw (I have to rule out anything with polish that's flippy at this house...its very weird...no pearls haha).

I appreciate your comments!  The Dark Star really acts like a smooth solid in our house and is fantastic looking on Fresh.

Funny you mention the Shout as the replacement, I was almost thinking the same thing.

I have a Sonic X Solid but it is laboring to get to the pocket and carry(pin down) versus the Sonic X pearl (pin along side ring and up a tad)I have which has no problem getting to the pocket and crushing. 

How much stronger do you think the Shout is than the Old Sonic X solid?  Of course I would drill it house appropriate to carry!

There is probably more difference than you'd think between a Sonic X Solid and a Shout.  Both are polished solids but the Shout revs. up faster and is stronger off the spot.  I've seen or thrown all of the Roto balls released a couple of months ago and I believe the Shout may be the hidden gem in that group. It seems like a fantastic combination of retaining energy through fairly dry heads but with a strong arc finish and hit that you would expect from a higher-end asymmetric ball - kind of the same thoughts I have of the Rising Star but longer through the fronts.

One word of caution though.  You seem to like the Dark Star for fresh as well as broken down shots.  I'd stay away from fresh with the Shout.  It can deal with medium-light well enough but the cover much like the Sonic balls is clearly built for ease through the heads.  I'd suspect you couldn't read a pattern that well on fresh oil unless you are playing the oil line.
