New Roto Grip Balls
« on: April 24, 2016, 08:16:14 PM »
Roto has 2 new releases in the HP 1 line coming out called the Freestyle. One looks to be a two tone reddish color and the other looks like the old Storm Lucid.

From chris shlemer

Ladies and Gentlemen, Boys and Girls, Roto Grip fans of all ages...

I wanted to take a moment and shed some light in regards to the upcoming issue of Bowlers Journal that has recently started to circulate. Inside this issue there is an ad featuring the new releases in the HP1 line from Roto Grip slated to launch this summer.

However, due to circumstances beyond our control with the processes in which we obtain approvals, it was in our best interest to change the name of these balls prior to the official launch. The colors you have seen or will see in the ad are in fact the colors of the balls as those will remain the same. Once we have this renaming process completed we will definitely let everyone know.

Roto Grip would like to thank you for your understanding through this process. We just wanted to help make things clear and eliminate as much confusion as possible as we roll out this new launch in the coming weeks...

Again we truly appreciate your support!

Kind regards,
Chris Schlemer
Roto Grip Brand Manager

From what I read on a roto grip group there's also a new hp4 and hp2 coming as well
From the current lineup, I can see a new sanded hybrid release for the HP4 line, a new shiny pearl for the HP 3 line and a sanded hybrid for the HP 2 line. What does everyone else think?

Looks like Roto Grip did some cleaning up on their site today. These are the only balls listed now:

HP4: Eternal Cell

HP3: Hy-Wire, Critical, Haywire

HP2: Hectic, Wrecker

HP1: None

Seems like the Locos are definitely out. It's interesting that the Wrecker is still being kept around, although that is/was a really good ball. The HP3 category continues to be really good and versatile. I think it's Storm's best line overall.

The Devour hasn't sold that well from what I've been told.

I wonder what the other releases besides the HP1 balls will be spec wise.
League: Pitch Purple, Destiny Magenta
Testing: MVP
Interests: Black Widow, Proof Solid, Idol Pearl

As good as the Devour has always seemed, I've definitely seen a lot more Hectics

The former Freestyles will be called Hustle.

To expand on this:

http://www.rotogrip.com/balls/hustle-pro

http://www.rotogrip.com/balls/hustle-say

It's interesting that for 15 lb. balls the core numbers are 2.53 RG and 0.030 DIFF. That's quite a change from the 2.57 RG seen on the Shout/Scream and the Loco balls.

Seems like the the Hustle SAY has more of a controlled reaction while the Hustle PRO has more backend. I'm going to go out on a (short) limb and say both of these balls will be viewed as really good values that might be for more than just dry lanes. Likely the "best" balls in the HP1 line yet.

So why did they retire the Menace already? Haven't it only been on the marker for a year?
Was the cage core that bad? :P
Most used:
Motiv Venom Shock (14)
DV8 Grudge Hybrid (14)
Hammer Scandal (14)
DV8 Freakshow (14)

Sometimes.
C300 Swerve (14)
Motiv Jackal LE (14)

Retired:
Roto Grip Sinister (13)
Motiv Jackal (14)

Given to a no-thumber in the club:
Brunswick T-zone (13)

Might stick with Motiv from now on.

So there should be 2 new balls coming in the HP4 line then, since the Menace and Skid are gone? Wow!!!

The Menace just seemed to be an odd release. The cage core seemed hit or miss, some people liked it but some people didn't.
