Tell me about the RS-P
« on: December 23, 2006, 06:51:26 AM »
I haven't thrown a Roto since the Retro Resurection, which I see has the same core. So tell about this ball, hows it roll?

For a mid line ball, it reacts more like a higher end ball. For a pearl cover it has a strong angular hook. Mine is not an early roller but my pin is located high above my ring finger. This is a ball that gets down the lane pretty cleanly and retains much of it's energy for the backend of the lane.  Overall it's a very good ball.

Hey Rotohead! A question: The pictures of this ball looks a lot like the Thunder Road series. Could it be the same core? Doesn't Storm produce the Roto balls? thx!

I don't see any similarities in the cores...

I'm glad you posted this, as I am eager to hear the reviews too.  I really like the look of the Horizon Solid, but it is pretty strong.  I'm thinking the RSP instead.

RSP.....to keep this short and sweet, think Absolute Inferno, but cleaner through the heads and more predictable through transition.  It can also handle a large amount of carrydown.  Very continuous ball.  My teammate has been killing our monday night shot with two of these and the stripper pad in our lane machine has been broken for about 9 weeks, so the lane and backend never gets a full complete stripping.  Imagine bowling on a THS in the fronts with 2 1/2 months worth of carrydown at random spots in the backend.  The RSP seems to ignore it as he's been killing them every week.

DP3, what kind of bowler is your teammate?  Your description sounds exactly like what I'm looking for, but if I bowl completely different than him, then I shouldn't expect the same exact results.

He has stats very similar to Mike Fagan.  His axis is 3 3/4 right and 1" up.  Has a large track circumference and a revrate around 380-400.  Speed about 17mph at the deck.  I doubt you're coming out of it like him but I've seen similar characteristics out of many people with this ball.  I have one brand new I haven't had time to drill yet.  I'll probaly put it on the back burner for now to drill the SD73 Classic.

I am a huge RSP fan.  As stated above it is versatile and consistant.  It is a ball reaction that you can count on.  I have used the RSP on everything from sport shots to THS with positive results.

I love my RSP and am considering purchasing another.  I've got the ball drilled pin below ring.  I get a clean move through the heads and a hard, continuous arc through the pocket. This piece has been very versatile and forgiving for me.  It does well in carry down, while at the same time it clears the heads when they've broken down a bit.
