It's just a teaser. It could be 3 months away.
Probably just the complimentary pearl version.

Can hurt sale if someone thinks it is coming out soon and wants to wait. 3 months from now isn't a good sales period for bowling balls.

Roto has had a late January release date in the past. They may be doing the same thing. We will have to see I guess...

I would like to jump in here and explain a few things on this. You will see a new Theory on the way very soon. Information should be released by tomorrow. It is unlike us to release a high performance release (coverstock change) 3 months after the first one. However, Every since the cell series the Roto Grip brand has been out of whack with our release schedule. We feel this has hurt us. This new Theory coming out sooner should get us back on track. For years, dating back to probably as early as 2004 we were very consistent with:

Jan/Feb: High/Entry

March/April: Mid

July/Aug: High/Entry

October: Mid

That kept everything 6 months apart and became a staple in the industry for consistent launch schedules. With the demmand for the original Cell we felt necessary to push the Cell Pearl off longer and released that ball by itself in October 2008. We have been off ever since.

So, I know it is unusual but the new Theory will compliment the original nice and we should be on track after this launch. Keep an eye out for a new Shield line ball as well.

Roger, can you really make a better Shield Line ball than the Dark Star/Riot/Grenade? Love that Photon Core!

Keep up the good work!

Roger,

Great news. I think the way that Storm Products uses the Roto Grip brand and a consistent release schedule should be commended. Roto is a secondary brand of SPI and you guys have never released ball after ball after ball without a reason just for the sake of getting something out or just to flood the market. There is rhyme to your reason and players and shop owners truly appreciate it.

Case in point: A certain other company with 4 brands is already closing out balls from the Bowl Expo releases. Our store owner is on one of the staffs so he gives a lot of shelf space to those 4 brands (Trust me I fight the good fight for Storm/RG shelf space and get it). He still has stock from those pre-orders he is going to get stuck with. I move the Storm/RG product out fairly quickly because the company does not release 2-3 balls per brand at the same time onto the market and shop owners. I mean we have some of the initial balls still on the shelf because they overlap so much and they do not give the market time to absorb all of these releases.

Most likely. I could see them doing something hybrid 4000 grit to replace the Rogue too, since it is the oldest highend ball of their line.

Roto Grip® is excited to announce the release of two hot new products. The Infinite Theory™ and the Rising Star™ will be available in pro shops February 16, 2011.

Infinite Theory

Infinite Theory

Intent

By now you have probably experienced the tireless power of the original Theory™. With the intense Insight™ reactive coverstock and Triliptic™ core, the Theory hit the market and immediately made a huge impact. And with the prior success of the Cell™ series and original Nucleus™ core shape, it was clear that the Theory had some big shoes to fill.

With the solid Insight cover, the Theory created a tremendous amount of hook in oil. In fact, it was borderline criminal! But some bowlers were looking for a smoother glide through the heads with a strong motion through the pocket, so here is where the new Infinite Theory comes into play.

Design

You might recall that the new Triliptic core helps the ball get into a roll easier due to the additional contours and elongation of the ellipses within the shape of the weight block. The Infinite Theory’s triple elliptical shape creates consistent axis migration and predictable ball motion, a must for consistency.

Consider as well the resilient outer core which minimizes the energy absorption upon impact at the pins. What this means to you is that you are now getting more energy transfer from the ball to the pins, increasing your pin movement which ultimately results in more strikes.

In addition, the innovative Insight coverstock has expanded surface roughness while the Infinite Theory’s hybrid blend gives you added versatility. The Infinite Theory comes highly polished to float effortlessly through the heads, but with just touch of Abralon® you will also reap the benefits of a solid.

Rising Star

Rising Star

Roto Grip is committed to bringing you a wide variety of performance in the product line. When you throw Roto Grip know that you always get a tremendous value whether you choose a high-end Crown™ line ball like the wildly aggressive Theory or something more subtle and tame like that found in the Shield™ line.

Our intent with the new Rising Star was to create a ball that works well on medium-light oil patterns for bowlers of all skill levels and styles. With the benchmark-type symmetrical core shape, the original Dark Star™ was the cornerstone of the Shield line in 2010, and the new Rising Star will fit the same parameters and perform even better.

To increase total hook as compared with the Dark Star, the Ultimate Vision™ hybrid coverstock is a must for this new release. It creates a smooth glide through the heads with ample bite on the dry boards without being over-sensitive. And with a 1500-grit polished finish, the new Rising Star is sure to raise the bar.

A journey to the center of the ball will reveal the new Neutron™ core as the power source. The Neutron core’s medium RG- medium differential shape is based on the concept started with the original Photon™ core utilized in the Dark Star. But you’ll find an even lower RG and higher differential in the heavier weights. So look for more motion out of the Rising Star with all the benefits of a hybrid coverstock.

As you rise to the top with this new Roto Grip release, you’ll quickly see why it earned the name Rising Star!
