The Defiant is very strong. I bought one when it first came out to replace my VG Nano and left it at OOB due to having a higher average ball speed. The Defiant in my case was a few boards stronger than the Nano, and that was already very strong as it was. But compared to the Nano, the Defiant has a smooth, continuous arc reaction and it's very driller friendly. On top of that, the carry is really good and it suits virtually everyone well from strokers and tweeners to your crankers and 2-handed bowlers.
With the positives said, it's primarily a tournament or sport shot type of ball for me. Only twice this season have I had to pull it out for THS when it was very over/under. Both times, the Defiant only lasted about 1 to 1-1/2 games. However, I was able to score and carry very well in those situations.
My suggestion is that if you plan to use it on THS and have average speed, you may need to take the cover to 4000 and add polish. The good thing is that the ball takes cover changes well and it can be versatile.
