help me with my roto arsenal
« on: February 09, 2014, 02:46:14 PM »
my favorite ball is my nomad dagger drilled pin down cg kicked out with a weight hole for more backend.i love it but the shot with this ball only lasts about a game and half.my shatter also seens to have too much backend when lanes break down( it is also pin up cg kicked out). I need something that rolls smoother but still has some backend. I am a low speed (12.5mph) tweener. thinking about an uproar drilled pindown. and maybe a scream. I like the shatter on a fresh shot but that doesn't last long. our house seems to be hooking more on the backends lately when they break down. when I play deep I get too much angle and cant carry. ilike what ive read about the rumble and uproar. im worried theyre too much like the shatter.ive also considered the lights out but for now im loyal to my roto stuff. any insight would be much appreciated

Make sure to include the Asylum in a Roto arsenal.  I absolutely love it!

If you choose the Uproar you may not want to go pin down. It will start early, and with your lower speed it may over react. If you go Scream , then possibly a pin down may work. I would discuss that with your ball driller. On a side note I have herd some good reviews on the Lights Out.
There's two kinds of music METAL and bullshit!

As Tony said. The Asylum should be in everyone's bag!

In your case, the Lights Out is what you need!!  Great ball!

Where is speed measured at backend/camera?  Is so many of the posts made so far are too strong of equipment for this ball speed unless much deeper into the lane

This tells me that the OP prefers to stay straighter and again not enough volume lane conditioner to play straighter the bane of the house lane condition and a player that wishes they could play straighter out and of their comfort zone.

Low total differential balls and something with some surface to blend out over/under wet/dry would be where to look IMO IF trying to play a straighter trajectory.  This answer is in reaction to the OP not what one would prefer to use themselves.

I've heard lots of great things about the lights out. I tend to be loyal to a fault at times and really and have only been looking ar roto stuff. I do prefer to play straighter but I've found is that I have a little more area if I stay inside the dry boards. All my equipment is too strong to play there all three games lately.

Also I don't have a good driller right now. I just got back into it after 10  years off. I had a guy 90 minutes away drill me up some roto stuff. Tried to have some stuff done closer to home and tried two different guys and wasn't happy with either one. Really would like to get a jig or something to drill my own.  I have always had trouble getting a ball duplicated to my liking.

Im throwing mine at 4000, i found it a bit squirty with the polish, at 4000 the ball has been money....I think you will find the motion very similar to your Dagger just weaker. My favorite ball of all time is a Nomad Solid, which I still have two of, and the lights out is a bit cleaner, very similar motion and about 2-3 weaker over all...
