I used to be biased against asymmetric cores. I didn't match up to them very well and had more than my share crack. So even if a ball looked like it had a good reaction, I would just pass it by. For some reason, well after it was discontinued, I kind of fell in love with the RST-X2's reaction. I don't remember what I was looking up, but I found lots of videos of it and it looked like just the type of reaction I was looking for. I also saw a few friends throwing it and it looked like money on just about everything. I started on a mini quest to find one (well, at a reasonable price - you can always find a collector willing to sell one for a kidney).

As it turns out, we had to go home for a funeral. About halfway there in Berkley Springs WV, there is an old school small bowling alley on the side of the road right before you get into town. I've been meaning to stop in there for ages just to see what it looks like. I was envisioning above ground ball returns, manual scoring, ... It was a little more modern than I had hoped, but still had a good vibe to it. 14 lanes - what an odd number. Anyway, before leaving I walked into the prop shop to see what they had. Lo and behold there was a NIB 15 pound X2 sitting there. The "after drilling" price was reasonable, but he gave me a really good cash and carry deal. I still need to find time to get it drilled (two of my friends offered me more than I paid for it already), but am excited to see how it rolls. Anyway, just figured I'd share a fun/odd story about never knowing what might drop into your hands.
