HyWire or Wreck Em?
« on: February 13, 2017, 12:36:09 AM »
How's it going all?

I'm looking a something that will fit below my No Rules Pearl, and above the IQ 30th ed(it's drilled weak, per my Pro Shop owner). I was looking at the HyWire and WreckEm.

Any advice or suggestions. My stats are in my bio.

I hate to introduce another option, but I would probably go with the Dare Devil. That should be an easy fit between the No Rules Pearl and !Q 30.

The Wreck-Em is a strong ball for it's price point but I don't know about putting it above an !Q 30 regardless of drilling. If anything a strong layout on that and a weaker layout on the !Q 30 should put them fairly close to each other.

Don't think the Hy-Wire would give you as much separation from the !Q 30 as you would like either. Definitely a different motion, but to put it solidly above? Eh, seems to close to me.

I agree on the Dare Devil, but I'd also suggest the new Torrent or wait for the Dare Devil Trick so you have a solid cover giving you some difference

Just for the sake of argument, I think it is more valuable to get a different look than trying to compare strength.  Hywire may not be that much different than IQ 30 in terms of hook potential, but definitely the look is enough different that many people would find a place in their bag for both if they match up well to their game

I really don't want too much overlap - to me that's a waste of $$$.

I think I'd also have to suggest Daredevil, but it depends on the shape you're after.  Hywire is really snappy, Daredevil is smoother.  I think the Hywire and Daredevil are actually pretty close on overall hook potential, but are really different shapes.  I LOVE the Wreck Em, but yeah, it just doesn't fit between the NRP and IQ 30.  The Hywire is actually strong enough that it would, but I feel like the Daredevil is the better ball of the two, the Hywire burns up too much on friction for my liking and can stand up on you.

Same here lol. Dare Devil for the situation. Also, I find the Hy-Wire is rollier and smoother in my opinion.

Appreciate all the feedback. I def like the look of the DD. My NRP is drilled to snap and flip so hard, and while I like that, I appreciate the smooth look of the DD. I'll let you guys know what I end up doing, and will post my equipment photos.

My Daredevil flips harder than my NRP. 4x4x1 on the NRP. 5x3x4 on the Daredevil. The latter drilling is supposed to give more control. I can't comment on those other two balls since I don't have them. I do plan on getting a Wreck Em at some point though. I did have an IQ30 when I was still throwing 15 lbs. I would say the Daredevil would definitely fit between the NRP and IQ30.

Just finished a practice session with a brand new No rules pearl and brad new hywire.  Shot was totally broken down house shot with dome head oil left at 4th arrow.  On this shot the 2 balls were both very rolly with pretty good continuation.  Hywire hit just as good when I leaked it to the dry even though nrp appeared to have better continuation.  Only place hywire seemed a bit weaker ( not much )was when I got it a little bit left at 4th and caught some carrydown in the mids.  Nrp got better tip when I made the same mistake with it, but didnt necessarily carry much better.

Bottom line the over lap for me is more between nrp and hywire than between hywire and my IQ 30.  I might get a different impression on a fresh flatter pattern, or shorter pattern.
