Mutant Cell Pearl Question
« on: August 02, 2011, 12:16:41 AM »
I have a relatively new Mutant Cell Pearl drilled strong at 4x4x2 and it seems that I am getting an inconsistent break in the dry.   Sometimes it breaks hard and other times it is flat from shot to shot in the same game.  I am not sure if I am fluctuating the position of my hand at release more than I realize or if perhaps it's something else like the amount of oil push down affecting the breakpoint or perhaps something else that I may be doing.  However, I don't seem to have this problem with my symmetric core pearl balls which I know can be more forgiving.

BTW . . . . the best shot I have been able to develop from the ball is to increase my speed and throw outside down the 10 board with little break.  It works OK but I miss out on the back end with this increased speed and I don't get the reaction I know the Mutant Cell Pearl is known for.

Any thoughts on what I may be doing wrong or has anybody else experienced this with this ball?   Would changing the surface to 4,000 help with an earlier read?

Thanks,

MK

P.S. I am a medium speed, slightly rev dominant tweener, high track bowler.  PAP 5 1/2 > 1/2^

Here is my MCP on a broke down THS after a 4 man league finished up. These videos was taken after about 12 games of usage after resurfacing to 4000.

I like the shape the 4,000 brings.  More midlane and more even.  It appears to be just the change I need.   BTW.

Did you go to 4,000 to even out the shape just as I am thinking?

Thanks,

MK

My reasoning was that I changed it to sub for a friend who was injured, but in a different house. That house puts a heavier THS, but with cleaner backends. It worked well at the other house, but even better at my own. Once I seen how well it did I completely resurfaced and put it at 500/2000/4000. It gave it a very nice controllable move and removed a lot of the over\under I was seeing on a fresh shot.

I also went to a 4000abr surface on my MCP. I was getting too much over/under with the box finish and thought this would smooth it out more. It made it read earlier and more of a defined move off the spot.
