I believe the Rising Star was meant to be the replacement. I have one myself and the ball is silly strong on the backend. Never had a Darkstar though so i don't know how it compoares.

The Rising Star has a much stronger core than the Riot & Dark Star and is flippier on the backend than either.
People seem to want strong backends and not the control type of balls that the Riot and Dark Star were. There are not very many balls around like the Dark Star.
Bowlers Store still seems to have them. If you really want one, I wouldn't hesitate to order one soon.No telling how much longer they will be around.
