Question on Mutant Cell
« on: March 04, 2010, 10:56:59 PM »
Two Mutants, both drilled pin up. One is at 2000 and polished and the other is 4000 no polished.
Can help with the reaction of both ball in general ? Thanks !
Helping my friend, he is a stroker and plays a small hook. During league, his Mutant reacted too early, he wanted to do something to the ball but cannot decide on the above 2 options.

Storm269 ..

It is a bit confusing to me anyway. He has two different Mutant's and one is polished and one has a light surface. We don't know how each ball is drilled. if they are weak drilled, strong drilled, The placement of MB has a lot to do with how the Mutant reacts, because it is a very strong ball to begin with. There must be some reason he drilled up two of them, I assume they are drilled different. A stroker does not tell us much about what type of bowler he is. We just need more information to be honest. There are many that will be anxious
to help you with information.

Hi my friend only have one Mutant and as it reacting too soon, he would like to alter the surface. Maybe to make the queston simple. What is the difference in reaction between a Mutant@2000 with polished and a Mutant@4000 no polished ? Thanks !

If I'm not mistaken, 2000 polished will cause a slightly longer skid/flip while 4000 will keep more of a roll off the breakpoint.  I difference between the two isn't very big, and you should probably make the choice based on his roll type.  If he's up the back of the ball more, 2000 polished would probably be prefered.  If he's more on the side, 4000 would likely be the choice.

If it's reacting TOO SOON, you go HIGHER in the surface grit, which is less surface, less friction.  4000 abralon is the ball he should be using.  If 4000 still reacts too soon, you need to add a polish designed to add length.
