Odyssey surface?

What grits/polish have you guys had good luck with on your Odyssey?  I'm rolling mine at OOB now (2000 abralon I believe) and the thing wants to start up way too soon on the shots I play.  The end result is hook set, which is nice in some instances, but not what I'm looking for.  

The ball is drilled 4"pin x 4.5"mb, weight hole down, I track high, 300rpms and throw it pretty firm.  I'll be bringing it to my pro shop for some adjustment next week, what type of surfaces have worked for you guys?

I currently have mine at 4000 Abralon, but that might change.  Judging from your layout and high track, I can definitely see it starting up very soon.  You are at least going to need a cover change, and maybe even a plug and redrill.  The reason I say that is because I have found the Ultimate Vision solid to not like polish much at all, for me.  I haven't tried it on my Odyssey yet, but I have used an original Epic probably more than anyone on this site.  Polish seems to just kill the midlane read and backend on this cover.  It wouldn't hurt for you to try.  FWIW, I keep my original at OOB (800 wetsand).  I had my Odyssey drilled with the same layout and it is a full notch stronger even at 4000 due to the strengh of the Maximus II core.  I had to plug the weight hole and move it because it would stand up so quick and then die.  On another note, a lot of people here, myself included, think that it came duller than 2000 from the factory.  Try putting 2000 on it yourself, and if that is still too much, give 4000 a try.  This ball really needs oil...

I have mine at 2000 it rolls great mines drilled 5 by 4 with the pin below the ring finger. I to am a high tracker (5 1/2 over 1/4 up) with about the same rev rate (325) and mine roll great. Personally I think 1000 is more like the OOB surface, but 2000 work the best for me.

I'm pretty sure I've read on here that OOB is 1000 Abralon.  I just picked up the Odyssey, and in OOB condition, it is too strong on a THS.  I too was seeing the ball roll out.  I hit it with a light coat of Finesse-It, and the ball pushes further down the lane and is more angular on the backend.  When I tried it in league, it was still too strong for our medium oil THS.  I think this will work, but it needs more oil.  I am contemplating taking it to 2000 Abralon, no polish.  By the way, mine is drilled pin in ring with the MB slightly below and 1-1/2" right of the thumb hole.

it looks 1000 but spec sheet says 2000, i have 3 of them all the same. At 2000 they are shiny as you would expect them to be.
