Odyssey vs Fury
« on: May 23, 2007, 03:28:36 AM »
I have a Odyssey on the way and can't wait as this is my first RotoGrip
ball but how does it compare to the Fury.I still may get a Fury and drill
them differently and adjust the covers to handle different amounts of oil.

No comparison, the Odyssey is longer, stronger, and far more continuous than a Fury. Not mention more versatile. And not nearly as drill sensitive.

so isn't the length due to the grit of the cover and i due understand drill sensativity but what makes it more versatile?

Asymmetry of the Odyssey provides more drilling options imo.

last year one of my team mates was using a fury with good success. He picked up about 14 pins on his overall avg and had many games over 230 and i was thinking about getting one. most nights i would be using either my solution or phenom unleashed on the same lanes also with good success. I say this to give some idea of what i was using to get a basis for comparison.
I now have an odessy and it is the strongest ball i have .It makes my battle look weak. my nm cant holed a candle to it and the phenom and solution, when i am using the odessy they are spare balls. I got one of the pro cg balls from bowlingball.com for 99 bucks and i couldnt be happier.
The ball responds well to changes in hand and position and release. When you throw it right you know it. Mine is drilled with the pin under bridge which puts it about 5 inches from pap. This is definitely the best roto ball . I am really glad i got one.

Odyssey. A better value in my opinion. I'm not going to knock the Fury. It's a very good bowling ball. But I don't think it will last as long as the Epic Odyssey will. And I don't think it's as versatile as the Odyssey. Plus, the Odyssey looks better. Of course I'm biased towards Roto Grip but...I think the Odyssey is a stronger, more versatile bowling ball that will last given proper care.
