It was my first Roto ball. I got it drilled just after release by the recommendation of a MoRich shop...he told me it was that good. Mine is on my approximately 6th redrill of the fingers. It's no longer truly round and is missing parts of labels. It's cracked around the fingers again. I've tried to retire it 3 or 4 times. The last plug and redrill doesn't even feel right on my hand.
Wednesday night I decided to put it back in the bag. I started with the Dimension in practice but couldn't kick out the corners. The lights came on and I decided to live or die by the Epic. Ended with 716 and a 279 game. Nothing new to this ball.
I then went to a tourney today and used it again. Everyone was complaining about hang spots and carrydown. I qualified 2nd with a 745 and 298 game. I lost in match play but that was the Indian and not the arrow.
Everyone has a ball that they just match up so well to. I have thrown a ton of stuff and lots of it is very, very good. I feel that when there's enough oil for the Epic, I can do no wrong. I have praised this ball time and again here, and will continue to do so until the darn thing splits in half. And then I'll cut the core out and magically put it into an Odyssey because I can still find those.

Don,
Except for Ebay I can find any original Epics at any internet retailers. I see Sagas, Battles, Quests, Odysseys. All are in the Epic line and are called Epics, but I assume you're interested in the original.
A friend may be willing to part with a used one, 16 lbs, if you're interested in that. Can't remember which weight you use.

Well...question.
Epic Odyssey vs Epic...look like same coverstock almost same core but slightly higher RG for the EPIC.
Then the Epic Quest vs Epic Battle...looks like almost same thing. Same particle coverstock but one has slightly lower rg for the Battle.
Am I seeing that right....same basic core added flip block for the Epic and the Quest?

IMO the Quest, and even more so the Odyssey, are WAY stronger than the original Epic.

Epic and Quest have Maximus 1 core which seems a tad weaker than Maximus 2. At least for me Maximus 2 seemed to have more of a backend.
Odyssey, Saga, and Battle have Maximus 2 core. The Saga with it's hybrid cover is pretty flippy for me.
I don't think these cores look anything alike at all, one looks like a box with ridges, the other looks like it has wings.
Epic is 800 grit matte, Odyssey is 2000 Abralon, close to the same, probably smoother.
The Quest for me really dug in deep too quick and burnt up even on a fresh shot. The Battle was pretty strong rolling and even but I didn't like it nearly as much as I do my regular Epic.
I haven't tried an Odyssey yet because I can get enough length and a strong turn out of the original one for now.

I did have an Odyssey at one time. I put the exact same layout on it thinking it would be the Epic but "more". Boy was that a mistake. Same cover, but the Maximus II IMO is a heck of a lot stronger core. I was so disappointed in not matching up with it at all that I never tried that core again.
I have been hoping all along that RG would eventually try making a true Epic pearl, as in Maximus I core with the Ultimate Vision pearl cover. Realistically, I think the Illusion is as close as I'm going to get to that.

PM sent in regards to an undrilled 15# Epic.

A buddy of mine has the original Epic....looks pretty long and real good on the dryish shot he uses it on!
The Odyssey looks like a heavier oiler for a wet top hat from the videos I've seen. A lot like the similar heavy rolling Super Charge.
For the fella that liked the Epic and drilled Odyssey the same. Probably a slightly weaker pin say 3/4 inch farther from PAP and similar up down would have given you nearly your Epic reaction. Just a guess.
