Venus - Outbreak
« on: April 12, 2007, 03:52:24 AM »
Tossed it last night for the first time, and I was simply amazed at the strength of the ball. Most high rg balls I have a problem with keeping them in the hole. This one was set up 4 x 4 pin under ring, small x hole 6 3/4" from grip center, down 1 1/2" leaving 3/8 pos side and 1/4 oz thumb. Rolly, strong arc to the hole sending messengers crossing the deck with KIA stamped all over them. Whiffed 2 ten and left a pocket 7-10 (my bad) for 708 with 4 practice balls in warmups. Stronger than I had thought, 2 boards rt of where I would stand to toss the Hor Solid, no over under, handled transistion like it didn't exist, when everyone else was pinging tens, all I did was leave a stone 8 or 9.
Awesome rolling, hard hitting ball !!!

Can you compare the Venus to the Mystic?

Thanks

later than the Mystic with excellent control from break to pin deck.
Cleaner up front, late midlane read. Surprised with the strength of the ball overall, holds its energy longer.

No comparison unless you're on a house blend shot where it's possible to use an Odyssey and an RS-1 and have them look the same.

Mystic will handle 1 - 1.5 levels more oil. It will burn up or lose a lot of energy on oil patterns/amount that will will allow the Venus to get good length and turn the corner hard. Much lower RG, much higher differential (for much more flare) and different coverstock AND high load of particles.

When the Mystic os starting to break at 40 - 44 feet, the Venus will be skidding for 58 - 64 feet. (Exaggerating for effect, of course; but not by much).

"High" load (like the SCB, GP2, or Centaur) or simply "higher" than in the Venus?

Has anyone ever said what percentage is considered a low, medium, or high load of particles?

The watchdog caught me.
I was in a hurry. Yes, I mean tot type, "higher". Actually 2% vs. 1%.

No. The manufacturers say either a percentage or use the words, light/low, medium, or high/heavy. Actually the meaning of the number is probably relative to the cover's natural strength and the type and size of praticles that are used.

In the case of the Mystic, "2%" is probably still considered a light load, but it's still 2x as many as the Venus's "1%". Together with the resin material, the coverstock, in which the particles are embedded, the Mystic's cover is probably  3x - 4x as "grabby" as the Venus's cover + its particles.

I figure the percentage is by volume, so larger particles require fewer absolute numbers than smaller particles.  I agree that the particle material would affect the reaction, but I'm not sure how it would affect the load % once you get past the volume ratio.
