Joblo1978, I am in the same boat that you are in when it comes to having to keep the pin up on most of my drillings. My PAP is 5 1/8 > 5/8 up. I clip fingers on almost every pin under drilling if the pin is in a high flaring position. I can put weight holes down the VAL to move the track up, but this makes the ball even earlier and more conditional for me (wet in/dry out).
I was fortunate to get a chance to go to Turbo Tech and spend some time with the inventor of the Turbo document, Lou Marquez. He drew on one of my balls what equated to a "box" of pin and MB placements that my track should not clip fingers with. This put almost everyone of them no lower than finger level. He also told me that if I put the pin in the ring finger that would be one of the slowest responses to friction that I should ever need.
He did suggest that if I really want an early rolling layout that looks like the pin down/hole down (RICO) to try a MB placement close to 30* but still with a pin up layout in a weaker flaring position (5-5.5"). I did try this on a Gravity Shift and Lou was dead on as it was continous and early/smooth of the spot.
Feel free to PM if you ever want to "compare" notes on higher track layouts or Storm/RG balls.
