Recommended cleaning of the Cell?
« on: February 04, 2008, 09:57:40 PM »
I'm hoping Roger replies to this topic.  I was wondering what everyone has done to their Cell's to clean them to try to keep the out of box reaction as long as you can.  I know the shell is supposed to be durable, but I want to clean it the proper way. I've used Ebonite Clean n Dull and it seems to work but leaves it a little shiny.  After 10 games on it, I hit it with a 1000 grit abralon pad (not remembering it came at 2000, duh!!) and it seemed to retain its reaction. Can someone give me thier recommendations?  Thanx.

Legends cleaner right after bowling.  Takes it right back to 2000 ab OOB surface.  The Cell is much better than my Saturn at staying near it's OOB surface thru a 3 game set.  The Saturn picked up oil shine or lane shine as I used it.

hey scott, wanna go halfsies on a gallon/half gallon of the Legends cleaner?  I can split your half into one or two quart spray bottles.  Let me know and I'll bring it/them along next Saturday.

Yes, PM me how much.  Have a friend that wants some.  I bought a 32 oz bottle last year still have enough but it's long shelf life I am sure.  What other cleaner can you get a buzz off of?  Lil beer and some Legends cleaner...mmmmmmmm.

arrrggghhhh.

I thought the bottle @ Buddies was at least a half gallon.  Not certain if it includes shipping or not but with it shouldn't be much more than $15-18.

on edit...around $40 shipped for the 32 oz. bottle.

I think I'll stick with the gallon of SuperClean for $8.70 and spend the extra $32 on a 1/8th of good weed for the buzz.  $13 to ship a two pound bottle of cleaner?  Wow, has shipping gotten silly.

Storm Reacta Clean or Xtra Clean is the preferred cleaner.

Clean and Dull has never left any of my balls the least bit shiny. Make sure you are following the directions.

In any case, normally, you should not need to use C&D every time you use the Cell. I use Legends Cleaner and it thoroughly cleans the ball. Use C&D every month or 6 weeks.

Xtra Clean or Reacta Clean should work fine as a daily cleaner.

I use clean and dull on a spinner and it works great, no shin just clean.

Lane Masters cleaner is excellent for deep cleaning on all equiptment. Gets out all the dirt and grime left in the coverstock to restore balls tackyness for great hitting power. Apply the cleaner right after you bowl.

Tried Reacta Shine Roger and it left the surface a little shiny but sort of greasy and not tacky.  So I grabbed a bottle of NeoTac Hook It and that cleaned it and left it tacky and dull so I will try it like that tonight and respond back.  I used the Clean and Dull on my Odyssey last nite with better results so I will probably give it another try after league tonite, but I didn't like what Reacta shine did for me.  Maybe the spinner isn't what I should have used Reacta shine on but oh well, live and learn.

Just mailed in my tax return and I will be getting another Cell with some of that and drill it 5 x 3 with the pin over the ring and see if I can get a stronger backend reaction in my pursuit of a new ball that has the same type of backend that my old Paradigm used to have.

Keep up the good work Roger and Rotogrip.

I would have thought you'd experiment with mine and have me be your ginea pig before you attack your ball with the unknown. lol

Just one note, Roger recommended Reacta CLEAN and XTRA Clean. They are very different from Reacta Shine. Our shop sells tons of Reacta Clean as we feel it's good product. Spray it on... WAIT 30 seconds so it can break down the oil and dirt... Wipe it off.

Thanx notclay, I meant Reacta Clean and not Reacta Shine.  I will try your 30 second treatment next time I clean my Cell.
