Title: Replacing my third Skid
Post by: BrentwoodBob on December 16, 2016, 10:44:39 AM
Hello, I have had 3 Hyper Cell Skids and its hard to fine them anymore, so I was wondering what ball would be the closest to the Skid. I roll fairly slow and go up the 5-7 board. I'm a huge Roto Grip fan and have owned a lot of balls but have found it hard to replace my skid. I guess that's why I'm on my 3rd one. Any suggestions of what might be close. Thanks for the help

Give the No Rules Pearl a look.

I know its not Roto Grip, but maybe the Storm Snap Lock.

I might look at the pearl. I just thought it was to strong for me on my house shot because I throw a slower ball around the 5-7 board.

On the Storm end (Storm owns Roto Grip)  You may also want to consider the Snap Lock as well ; Similar ball reaction and characteristics, although the snap has a more defined back end motion.
Good luck.

Yes my Skid goes threw the front end very long then snaps back but not to hard .With my speed I like a gradual roll to the head pin.

I would think if they Skid worked for you that the NRP could be drilled accordingly and work as well. It might force you a couple boards more left but I would think manageable.

Just out of sheer curiosity, why are you on your third?
How did you "wear out" your first two, if that is what happened to them?

One had a major crack that I didn't want to deal with and the other had well over 500 hundred games on it and has been rejuvenated many times. Also a good friend of mine owns the pro shop so I like to keep him in business. Confidence is big in bowling and this ball has really improved my game. Maybe its just time to move on with something different.

I would say, Snap Lock, NoRules Pearl or Code Black. All are great ...

I would say the Snap Lock is rollier than the Skid from my observations. I'd say No Rules Pearl or Code Black with a preference of the Code Black.

I'll take a closer look at the No Rules Pearl. Thanks all for your suggestions

500 games is bowling 5, 34 week league's for a season. That's a lot of bowling with just one ball.

have mercy. I'd get bored. I throw different stuff daily just to try new things and keep house shot bowling fun.

I have many other balls but most are to strong for my house so I use them at other locations. The Skid is perfect for my style of bowling.
