Oracle-Super mini review....
« on: September 01, 2004, 02:59:14 AM »
OK……

Just picked this bad-boy up last night, and threw approx. 2 games with it total…………..not much…..but enough for at least a mini review or a SUPER mini review

Lanes:
Sloppy shot basically,…originally a 38-9 foot THS pattern with med-heavy oil,…basically dry 6 out, and flying backends…..but this had been pushed down,…with a partially worn track …I'd say fairly heavy carrydown……

Ball:
4 inch pin out…..Not sure on all the top/side weights…….but ………basically a 4 strong….even though the mass bias isn't marked on the ball,…..of course KOTM spun the ball and found it …and placed it right of the thumb about  1.5 inches, next to and just below……no hole needed,……….(deep fingers and thumb ) …….box condition……800 smooth……….

My specs: See my profile……..

What I did:
I started with my Animal ( again see profile…..w/ a new surfrace…800 smooth !) With the Animal,….I started at 25 w/ my feet and went 13 at the arrows to about 7-8 at the break………no problem handling the carry-down………

After a few more w/ the Animal…I tried the same line w/ the Oracle….same line,…..just as expected….it went a tad longer and had a more continuous type finish to it ( CAVEAT: I'm not saying the Oracle is stronger!)  But just the same, …it handled the carrydown just fine.

For fun KOTM said,…"move to 30, see what happens,…see if it'll make it back?"   Why not ….so I did ….feet at 30,  18ish at the arrows out to about  9-11 at the break………it made it back as well !    ( I did NOT try 30 w/ the Animal )

I believe this ball, with the right prep and drill will be able to handle some pretty heavy shots…..floods,….not sure, but  it's got the guts to easily do medium heavy, heavier patterns, and a good amount of carrydown.   Prepped right, it'll almost give you a flippy (for a particle) type look as well….especially on a fresh shot with nice backends……….

Classic Roto hit with great continuation thru the deck!  I think we'll see some big numbers when this ball matches up!

Jeff,

You got a similiar reaction out of the Oracle as I got. Roto Grip definately has a winner in this ball. I think it will be playable on most shots for all kinds of different styles. As you stated, surface prep is going to be KEY. For a dull particle ball the Oracle gets good length and is very strong on the backend compared to most strong particles as well.

Good job Roto Grip!
