Just picked one up one of these and I got to roll it last night for the first time. The existing span and holes matched me pretty well for the test. It's drilled 4x3, pin under the bridge with an X-hole PAP-ish and box finish. This is my first ball with the pin under the fingers, so I was curious as to how it would react. Lanes are new synthetic with burned up/light/dry oil from open bowling.
I've heard this ball is pretty strong in the mid and just continues through the back, so I started 30 through 15 at the arrows. After I got warmed up, I couldn't keep this ball on the right side of the headpin with this line, so I moved to 35/20. Found the pocket for a few shots and this ball did some damage!! I've never been able to make the ball hook as much as this ball -- it revs up easy and makes a strong, controlled midlane move toward the pocket with continuation through the deck. Not a flip -- more a strong arc. I was comparing it to my X-Factor (at 1000 grit) which is drilled to go long and snap HARD to the pocket. The R-R Blue was definitely covering more boards than the X which I was playing at the original 30/15 line. I had to keep moving left with the Blue and ended up at about 38/23 when the ring finger slug/grip combo launched itself onto the lane next to us.....guess I'll be heading to the pro shop for a little work....Anyway, the R-R Blue is a great ball which may end up replacing my X-Factor in my usual lineup. I just can't seem to get away from the Roto stuff and every ball I play keeps convincing me to stick with them.
