SD73 Classic
« on: March 05, 2007, 01:27:53 AM »

Hello All,

I just bought a SD73 Classic over the weekend. I am not sure of the exact drilling layout that was used. I was told it was drilled to have an early aggressive roll. Well I went out last night to throw and the ball doesn't move much at all. I threw my Paradigm and ball made nice movement into pocket. Should I have the coverstock adjusted??  I am more of a stroker myself, I throw with quick ball speed and low revs.

Thanks - Any info or help would be appreciated..

Exactly what agroves asked.  What's the layout and I assume it's box surface?  The fact that "early aggressive" was used to describe the layout may point to the problem.  It's very possible that given this balls very high flare potential, that the ball is overflaring very quickly and causing the ball to die in the backend.  Mine is 5.5" from the axis and I still get about 5" of flare.

The other issue is that it's possible the cover is too strong for you OOB which would cause the same type of reaction.  The combination of strong cover and core can make this ball hook too early for some.

If you give us a little more info, I'm sure that we can point you in the right direction.

Well, disregard my comments about the ball not moving.. In my league last night, first game I bowled a terrible 128... Made a hand adjust (in positioning of ball) in game 2 and 3 and bowled a 235 and 227. Ball did everything it was suppose to! This thing hits like a truck..
