Has about 20 games on it. Cleaned regularly. However, it has shined up. Should I just hit it with a 4000 abralon pad?

I'd suggest a Clean and Dull cleaning. Hitting it with 4000 abralon will just smooth it out further. Remember it's a 500 grit/4000 grit combination, not a plain 4000 Abralon finish.

 Remember this when/if you resurface it. Just putting a 4000 finish on it WILL NOT get it back to factory surface or OOB reaction. Put it at 500 first, then smooth it with 4000.

 If you need to "bleed" the oil out, put it at 320 to 500, "bleed" the ball, clean it well, then do the 500 first-4000 second process.

He's just talking about lane shine.  If he uses the clean n dull & it still has lane shine, just lightly hits it w/a pad by hand it will just take that shine off & won't smooth it like you guys are saying.  

What you don't do is go 1000 then 2000 then 4000.  That would smooth the surface too much.

So if you notice you're losing reaction after 2 or 3 times lightly touching up the surface w/4000 pad, then you might try taking down to 360 or 500. Then do an oil extraction & then use 4000 pad.

What you call "lane shine" is really oil being pressed into the ball by the pressure of the ball constantly rolling over and over it. That oil should really be removed first. By just sanding it, you reduce the number of games in which you will really need to do a full oil extraction to rejuvenate the ball.

On rough surfaced balls like this, oil is sucked up at a high rate. Clean and Dull helps restore some of the performance and does extract some of the oil from the upper surface. A light manual touch up after using C & D might be done if the surface appears to need it.
