Rogue Cell cover
« on: August 12, 2009, 12:28:44 AM »
Hi All! I was wondering about the Rogue Cell cover stock. Are these hybrid cover stock hard to maintain and I heard that once you resurface these covers they don't react the same. Thanks for the help Roto Guys!

Thats because the Rogue cell isnt a true 4000 finish, its the same 500/4000 finish thats on the Hammer Jigsaw, that finish is also on the Storm Virtual Gravity as well.

Don't let the term "hybrid" scare you.  That just means the cover is a mix of both standard solid reactive coverstock and pearlized reactive coverstock.  Sanding the cover won't have any effect on the actual makeup of it or anything, it's just like any other standard reactive resin ball in that regard.  Just like any other Rotogrip/Storm ball, you should have no problems tweaking the cover or even resurfacing the ball as long as you do it properly.  If you want to take the ball back to its original 4000 abralon finish, sand it with 320 grit abralon, then lightly hit it with 500 abralon, and then skip directly to the 4000 pad and don't use too much pressure or time.  This should restore the out of box finish.  All of my Storm/Roto equipment has had tons of sanding, polishing, resanding, repolishing, etc. done, and none of them have lost their reaction.

My Rogue is 2 months old and has about 70 games on it. I've resurfaced twice and done an oil extraction once. It still behaves as if it were fresh out of the box. I know some people who believed their Rogue had lost some reaction after resurface. I think that has something to do with some not knowing box surface for this ball isn't the "normal" 4k Abralon, but is instead 500/4000. That's if someone really likes OOB best. This cover tunes easily anyway, so adjusting the cover to your needs shouldn't be difficult.

Ok, so what if you just want to step down from oob surface to say 2k ab. pad. Do you need to bring it down to 320 and up, or could you just bring it down to 2000?
