Rogue Cell= Defiant Soul???
« on: March 14, 2013, 11:54:41 AM »
Hey everyone, just trying to figure out if the Defiant Soul would be worth getting if you loved the Rogue Cell. I'm pretty sure it will be a good deal stronger, just trying to figure out of the shape of the reaction would be close to the same. Thanks!

I was thinking that but im not a fan of the way I punched up my defiant and edge...so I cant say the shape is close to the cell and cell pearl...

Anyone else draw any conclusions?

In concept, yes. Strong asymmetric core, solid/pearl combination and sanded dull to handle oil.
In execution, the Soul probably has a stronger coverstock to handle the more viscous oils of today. On house patterns, which often hide the differences between balls, you could probably use either one, if you have enough ball speed and/or there's enough oil.
On heavy oil or heavier sport patterns, you may prefer the Soul.

In general, I'd suggest they're equivalent for their respective time periods.

But, Bill, remember that the Defiant and the Edge have "micro-bite" particles; the Soul does not. I'd expect a much less arc-y reaction, if the Soul had the same drilling as either the solid or the pearl Defiant. The lack of particles might not make the ball flippy (strong backend) but ti should have a harder arc than either of the other 2, when you put the same surface on it, as the ball to which you are comparing it.

I think, like the Lucid varies from the Nano solid and the Nano Pearl, the Soul will be a different type of animal than the Defiant solid and pearl.

I have both the Rogue and the Soul. Drilled differently but for me the Soul is stronger. I really like the motion and carry of the Soul.....

Took a plug and redrill, and a month or so of tinkering, but i may have finally found where and how to play my defiant

Well I did my normal 4x4x2 which normally puts me at a pin above the ring ringer...and the mb about 1-2 inches from my thumb hole.  Neither the og defiant or edge roll well for me at all.  I think for me its a bad cover/cover match up, cuz I do really well with all of the other offerings from utah.
