I have been rolling my Rogue for a few months now and have decided I probably should have had it drilled a little different.
It is laid out like this roughly.
----P-----
---O-O----
-----cg---
----------
----O-----
-----mb---
----------
The pin is around 2 inches I think. I am really having to put a ton of hand into it to get even a decent break point. I realize now i should have went pin below and kicked out the CG an MB alot more for my comfort zone. Short of having it redrilled which I am reluctant to do does any think that taking the surface to 2000 Ab would give it a better break and let ease up from the hard cranking I am forced to do? It is starting to cause some shoulder discomfort and back strain/pain.

Well, if surface adjustments don't work 1st, try sloing down the speed of the ball. If that doesn't work, then maybe a closer pin to pap than where you're at. Looks like your pin to your pap is over 5 inches judging by your profile. Plus being pin up, making the ball not want to get into a mid lane roll soon enough. Charlest would be a good person to chime in or even you could pm him.

i agree with what pike said, try more surface, if that dosnt work then plug and redrill the thumb right on the MB, that should give you alot more reaction at the break point

my rogue moves alot but i have around 550 rev rate with about 15-16 mph so naturally i dont get to use my rogue that much, it does play the shark pattern very well and any time i get to throw it is a good day
here is a pic of my rogue....

Did it react like this when brand new for you or have you noticed it declining in reaction? Both the Cell and Rogue steadily lost strength for me as I put more games on them so maintenance is a key to keeping these balls strong.
You seem to have a pretty tame layout on it in regards to your PAP. I would certainly suggest taking the surface down some first...try 2000 and then 1000 Abralon if you need "more".
I have a totally different layout on mine (4.5 pin x 3.5 MB) pin down and the ball is very strong off the spot even though the layout would indicate otherwise. Try a cover change or 4 first before you consider a plug and redrill.

Our lanes are synthetic and usually heavily on league night. I agree that if I really get under the ball and put a TON on spin on it it will break hard and fast but it causes some pain to have to put that much wrist in it, and I am a fairly big strong guy, 6'2" 250lbs.

I just had my Rogue drilled like this. With a 2in pin and the cg just
below and out from the ring finger. Also I had to have a hole on my
PAP about an inch or so deep. I bowl on synthetic lanes and there is
a lot of friction at the break point. I just put a shine on it
because I needed to get down the lane a little longer. I have 3 games
with it and I had a 709. I have around 300 reves, just a guess, and
with this ball I almost have to play around the 4th arrow. What type
of lanes do you bowl on and do they flood them, because I have seen other people throw this ball and man do they move.

Yes it has been like this from day one, the first time I threw it i thought WOW I just wasted a couple hundred dollars. Like I've said I figured out that if I kinda cup the ball in my palm and spin the heck out of it it really comes to life but it just seems like I should not have to put that much effort into this ball. I agree I think the layout is too tame, and I believe going to 2000Ab should help, just looking for some confirmation from the readers here. If that doesn't work I will have it re-drilled and chalk it up to learning experience. I know my team mate has a Cell and I don't have to put nearly the effort into throwing his as I do mine.

Well, how's your team mate's Cell laid out & at what surface? Maybe that's the same layout you desire..... Just a thought...

It is roughly the same layout. but his pin is 2.5 to 3 inches and upon inspection mine is closer to an to an inch and half.

my last thoughts on this is I am going to give a bath in a bucket of dishwater, hit it with a 2000 Abralon and it that does not work I am having it re-drilled pin down with the CG kicked out 2 to 3 inches to the right.

Keep in mind that you can certainly go duller than 2000. You should see an improvement, but if it's not "enough" then don't hesitate to go even lower. IMO it would be a mistake to only try the 2000 surface.

Make sure you are drilling it based on the marked mass bias (MB), not the CG. Place the MB in the strong position, 1/2 way between your track and your VAL. Typically about 2" right of the thumb.

What are your revs.. on my original cell I wish I drilled mine like your rogue cell.. when I went pin down and the mb kicked to 45 deg the thing had 0 backend.. just arc and little area coverage.. just moved early and not alot..

Decided to try a warm dishwater bath this weekend. There was more oil in it than I would have thought so I will try it league night and see about the reaction now, perhaps that will help it pick back up. I am a medium rev player.

The soak made a big difference. But still I have decided to re-drill the ball the way I wanted it and I will not go to the same guy for drilling. If he would have listened to me the first time I would not have to go through this.
