Hello fellow Rotogrip members. I have a question for you and hopefully Roger if he's on this weekend. My friend scored an MTX from Ebay this week and wants me to drill it. Its got a 4 - 4.5" pin with 2.66 oz top weight. His specs are 5" over and 0 up and down, 45 degree axis tight and more of a tweener style. He is well over a 220 average and one of the best in New Hampshire so he's not new to bowling. Between myself and him, we've drilled ever RG ball out there for the past 3 years and have been in contact with Roger often. We wants this to be the strongest ball in his bag and stronger than his SD-73 and Odyssey. For him, the SD-73 wasn't the ball he thought it was, I love mine but I do agree that it is not for heavy oil, thats where the Quest comes in. He only has a 4 5/16th" span so the length of the pin scares me. I was hoping this would have a 2-3" pin so I could lay it out pin under, CG out with a thumb weight hole. What I'm thinking of doing is laying this out 5 x 3 with the pin at least 1" over the bridge and putting the CG down in the thumb positive quadrant so that I need a thumb weight hole to make it flare even more. I haven't seen it yet, but I think I can lay it out this way. With this strong of a layout, our house shot probably won't be enough oil for this ball, which they say is stronger than the SD-73 classic, so he'll probably use it for carry down and tournaments. What do the rest of you think? Does this sound good? He has a trouble with his equipment when he runs into carrydown so everything I'm drilling now is going to be stronger layouts. Please let me know. Thanx alot.
