UK one ball MTX event!
« on: June 01, 2007, 12:16:56 AM »
Just read about the one ball event being held in the UK in september, and the 1 ball being selected for use is the Roto Grip MTX (the blem ones), so should be a whole lot of fun!

Its over in england (im in Northern Ireland) so I'm tempted to play, although travel costs may stop that!

Good job to Roto Grip on sponsoring the event!

What's the travel cost from N. Ireland to the UK? It must be besieged with taxes and fees.

NI is actually in the UK, though even the small travel from here to England can cost a good bit of cash... however (and this has only occured to me while about to say I would need to travel by car due to the cost of taking balls on the plain..) as it is a one ball event, luggage is at a minimum!  So a cheap flight may be had.  But if you end up paying £70-£100 for a flight, £60 for accomidation, and about another £100 in expences, even a 2nd place finish probably wouldnt cover the costs...

I'll definitly be investigating it more before making my decision though!  Would love to be able to support this RG tournament

Almost any review will be of the "normal" MTX... however all the balls being used for the competition are blems...

The coverstock is pretty much urethane, and thus is very weak.  However, with the very high differential core (from the SD73) it still flares a tonne, and is great on lighter or shorter patterns!

I'd say the event would definitely be worth entering if you can...

I picked up an MTX mid weight from ebay for my wife.  She loves her MTX.  The MTX is a reactive urethane particle ball with the SD-73 core, overseas release only.  With surface adjustments - this ball will work on ANY condition except dry.

Onlybowling - the balls being used in this competition, and basicly all the MTX's available in the UK, are blems, and have a very weak, pretty much urethane, cover.  These are BEST used on drier/shorter oil and, dare I say it, i think are even better than possibly originally intended as they fill a gap in the market for a High Differential light oil ball!
