RS-1?
« on: February 18, 2005, 11:45:23 PM »
I was interested in getting a pearlised ball that would flip because all i have is particle. I have a great game with my particle balls, and i want something that can ans will give me a different feal and reaction. I was recomended a RS-1 because of its sharp angle, and length. I dontk now if this is true, so anyone out there who has drilled one up, can u please let me know how you have it drilled (if you know), what condition u use it on, how well it does, and weather it is consistant or not, also if u are on wood or synthetic lanes.

Compared to most particle balls, I'm sure it will flip.  But, the RS-1 has a low RG and a lot of flare potential, so it's going to want to hook early and even.  Go with a high RG drilling to help it get down the lane before it makes it's move.

Strider,

Not so fast .... it's got a low RG but get's a good amount of length as well,...revs up early, but doesn't "hook" early, and I would classify this as more of a HARD-arc than a flip, but when it goes....IT GOES!

I agree though.....put the pin higher and a bit further from pap,...putting the mass bias just right of the thumb will also accentuate it's "flippiness"

I thought you were on vacation or something.

The RS-1 uses the same Sure Grip pearl cover as on the Silver Streak Pearl.  The SSP only gets average length for a pearl.  The RS-1 has a slightly lower RG and a good bit more differential (RS1 = 0.059, SSP = 0.04).  If you've thrown it, or seen it in action a lot, I'll believe you, but the numbers don't support it.

I HAVE ONE!! Trust me Strider,...it's an SSP on steroids!!  Yes, it does rev early, but doesn't 'hook' early.....big, hard arcing backend...really strong but still readable...not as flippy as an SSP,...but still bigger overall if that makes sense

and...yes, I'm on vacation...but when I'm waiting for Mrs Revs to get ready to go out, ...I'll hop on and say hi

Heres a couple more choices in same price range for you:

Brunswick punisher get 3 1/2 - 4 pin go with 5 x 4 1/2 drill have it love it!!

AMF Titan same drilling ball is actually stronger than punisher and can carry well from inside angles on 10s

Columbia Ego again same drilling best part on ebay cheap from being recently discontinued ball is stronger again than both of above but this ball always recovers from wide shots.

I have all balls above and rs-1 i would say rs-1 earlier and stronger than above balls but does not like carrydown at least in my hands.

I should have known better than try to argue with Jeffrevs on a Roto product.    LOL  Thanks for the confirmation.
