help with finding a ball
« on: September 14, 2006, 07:53:14 AM »
first off this is my first post so I want to thank anyone in advance for helping.  I hope to get involved on this board now that I have signed on.

Anyways, I took a break from bowling but now want to get back into it.  I used to average about 190 but am a low/med rev-low ball speed bowler and I need a ball that is really going to hook because the house i'm bowling in now is a sewer.

Is the epic saga the ball I am looking for?  from the reviews it seems like a good choice.  I have also heard that the radical inferno might be an option

any other suggestions on the ball i might be looking for would be appreciated.  i have been out of the game for a few years so i'm way behind on the equipment

thanks again

Adam

If sewer mens heavy oil then I would say that the Saga is not the ball that you want, If you want a heavy oil ball one of the best is the Epic Battle by Roto Grip which also makes the Saga another would be the RSP by Roto Grip which is for heavy oil at a cheaper price and it is a pearl that comes dull which can be adjusted with polish to use on a medium shot I woul presume. I mention these two because you first mentioned the Saga and these are Roto Grip

You also might want to consider the Action or Action Max by Columbia 300

since i don't throw a big hook even with dry conditions, could i throw the max and epic battle if the conditions are medium to dry?  from the research i've done it looks ok but i was hoping someone that understands how these balls would react with a low-rev thrower like me would be able to chime in

by the way, thanks very much riley and dane for the feedback

You may possibly throw the battle on medium if you polish it but you will not throw it on dry period, I think that the RSP would be a more versatile ball but you will not be able to use it on dry either. I think you would be able to use the RSP on medium and heavy with cover adjustment

As a lower-rev bowler who has used the Battle, even with a low rev/low speed, you'll find it will burn up on dry.  It's a great ball for the heavy, but everyone might be right with that RSP recommendation.
