hockey pucks are dull arent they
« on: September 16, 2006, 06:07:31 AM »
I am convinced that dull balls are just not for me with the way i bowl. I repolished my epic battle and it is like night and day. Stormed 1 recommended i go with rough buff over the 500 grit i had asked him for previously,he said that would take it to about 800. Went out to league and shot 230 with 2 opens. The ball just wont move dull for me,but polished its truly a good ball.
To date my epic is the only dull ball i have been able to use with consistent success. I love that ball . It reads the lanes well and responds well to speed and hand changes. That ball almost talks to me. It said to me wednsday after i threw a bad shot to move up on the approach and i shot 242 with it ,(2 opens). The battle for me is just nothing dull.
It must be my lack of hand and rev rate i guess, but no dull ball has worked for me other than the epic. wmb,big one, passion. I guess that shoot put a warning on these balls not for the rev challenged. I have seen people throw my battle with great success.Reving to me might as well fall in line with the mysteries of the pyramids.
My advice to anyone using dull equipment and not getting the desired result try polishing it ,and learn to play up the boards in oil.

With many shots, there simply is not enough oil out there to keep a number of dull balls from burning up.

Personally, I prefer to start polished...one can always scuff before the lights go on if needed...
