Hy-Wire & Hectic
« on: June 26, 2017, 01:42:15 PM »
Looks like we can still get the Hectic and Hy-Wire online. Anyone still using either of these or have any commentary, positive or negative about them? I've never tried either.

Also,  does the Hectic have a lot of overlap with the Hy-Road Pearl?

Hy-Wire I was mixed on.  Too jerky for me, burnt up a lot of energy turning, like a symmetrical Snap Lock.  Hectic is one of the most underrated balls ever in my opinion, but no, I didn't have a lot of overlap.  They're similar through the fronts, but where the HyPe picks up and moves, the Hectic lays off and slowly works its way in.  Much smoother read on the backend than the HyPe.

Thanks Luke! I may let both of these slide right on by then.

I won the Hy-Wire in a raffle.  It is not a ball I would use every day, but it bailed me out of several situations.  When it is right, it works very well.

Hectic is the weakest ball in my bag sitting under the Wreckem. Great ball but needs friction which isn't too hard to find on the average THS. Never really matched up with the Hywire or Haywire so maybe something about that core. If you want that Hywire shape, I think the Dare Devil is better.

Agree on Hy-wire to condition specific for me. Not worthy enough reaction to carry as just a extra ball to carry...

Regret passing on the hectic, as it would been a perfect compliment to my devour.   :-[

I am looking for a ball to go to after my Wreck Em. The Hectic the ball??? I know I'll have to find one on eBay at this point but.

Now that I had a night of practice with the Hectic, I can agree with Luke's assessment. I do not have the Hy-wire though. However, I did compare the Hectic to the Hy-road Pearl, and even though I put motion hole on the Hectic, it is still longer and smoother than the Hy-road Pearl. I also compared it to the Hustle POW and Match Up Solid (just got this yesterday). Out of the 4, I had to move the least with the Hectic. It is just very clean and is not super jumpy off the spot. Still hooks and covers boards. Just seems to be less prone to over/under than the Hy-road Pearl.

On fresh I was furthest left with the Hustle POW. Then Hy-road Pearl, Hectic and Match Up Solid. As the night went on (ended up bowling 11 games - PSO bowled 2-3 with me early on, but only used a Loco Solid and Pitch Blue), the Hectic and Match Up Solid flipped spots.
