Roto Grip Question?????????

Need to fill a void in the lower end of my arsenal, was going to purchase an outcry and uproar. My question is are these 2 balls mainly medium oil rollers or light oil rollers. I know Roto is a lot stronger than advertised so what do you all think?

Also was going to pick up an asylum on closeout. Why wasn't this ball very popular, maybe color combo? I watched numerous vids on this ball and it looks very good. Any info on this ball would help also help. Likes or dislikes?

It's been like that for a while now.  I still remember when I bought a Rising Star and how strong that was for a lower end ball.  That ball had me moving left quick and playing a ton of angle for a weak layout.

The weird thing was that I used that ball mostly on a 43 ft long pattern that was heavier volume.  Knowing others that also had the Rising Star, they mentioned the same where the ball was much more like a midrange piece instead of low end. 

Roto Grip actually came out with the Wrecker to address the issue of the Rising Star having a much stronger cover than expected.  The Wrecker ended up using a different type of hybrid cover that was much cleaner up front and didn't read the midlane as quick.

I agree, I had a shooting star and that ball was a beast. So much overall hook for that price point. And no I do bowl on quite a bit of oil so I'm not looking for a light/dry oil ball by any means. Was wondering if the outcry/uproar were weaker than previous Roto balls in that price point but could still handle some medium conditions if needed.

In terms of your purchase choice:
My purchase would be based on this...

Outcry if you bowl MOSTLY on synthetics
Uproar if you bowl MOSTLY on wood

Asylum Q: 

If I remember right it did achieve a 900 series? No?

I think it didn't sell because it looked terrible, I know many who love it, and believe its STILL their best mid price option... Dont think twice on that one.  Also you will see more separation between the asylum and uproar, of course, with more overlap by adding the asylum and outcry.

Just a warning for you.  I actually have the Asylum and it's a darn good ball.  The cautionary piece is that I also have the outcry, and It's pretty darn close to the Asylum.  With the same drilling, the outcry is probably a touch earlier than the Asylum with a little slower response to friction.  In other words, the Outcry is stronger than I thought it would be.  I see better carry with the Asylum, so the Outcry sees little play time at this point.

I have both the outcry and the asylum. My asylum is drilled pin up and its a backend monster. I rarely use it due to the lack of oil. My outcry is pin down and is alot smoother. It still needs a little oil but I love the carry I get with it.

So would you say you would get better carry with the outcry with straighter angles due to the lower diff core?

If you are not looking for a light/dry ball -- then I would look at the Asylum.

Surprisingly, I play approximately the same line with both balls.  Stats wise, I throw around 13 mph and 300+ish revs.  So I don't have the ball speed to play direct with it on the lower volume house shot I bowl on.  It hooks too soon (or if it doesn't it burns up).  I need to keep it in the oil in order for it to be playable.  I did add polish to try and get it to push long, but it only made it too over/under for my liking.

Asylum was an awesome ball in general. Best of both worlds from the Disturbed and Deranged. It just doesnt boom like the public is used to so it went mostly unnoticed. The Outcry is stronger than people think but with the low diff core, it doesnt read as well in oil as the Asylum.
